(1) Align the crankshaft sprocket with the TDC mark on oil pump cover (Fig. 71). (2) Align the camshaft sprockets (to reference mark made upon removal) between the marks on the (3) Install the timing belt starting at the crank- shaft sprocket going in a counterclockwise direction (4) Holding the tensioner pulley against the belt, Install the tensioner into the housing and tighten to (5) When tensioner is in place pull retaining pin to allow the tensioner to extend to the pulley bracket. (6) Rotate crankshaft sprocket 2 revolutions and check the timing marks on the camshafts and crank- (7) Install timing belt covers and crankshaft damper. Refer to procedure outlined in this section. (8) Install air conditioning drive and accessory drive belts. Refer to Group 07, Cooling System for (9) Install fan module. Refer to Group 07, Cooling System for procedure. (10) Install upper radiator crossmember. Refer to Group 23, body for procedure. (11) Connect negative cable to remote jumper ter- minal. (12) Start engine and allow to idle for approxi- mately 1 minute. Then, operate the engine at speed bleed out any possible air in the timing belt ten- OIL PAN REMOVAL (1) Disconnect negative cable from auxiliary jumper terminal. (2) Remove dipstick and housing. and transmission housing (Fig. 72). (5) Disconnect engine oil cooler line from pan.
