Front Damper Reassembly 1. Install the damper unit on a spring compressor. NOTE: Follow the manufacturer's instructions. STRUT SPRING COMPRESSOR: BRANICK® T/N MST-580A, T/N 7200, SPRING LOWER SEAT 2. Assemble the damper in the reverse order of disas- sembly except the damper mounting washer and self- NOTE: Align the bottom of the damper spring and spring lower seat as shown. 3. Position the damper mounting base on the damper unit as shown. Left: Right: ALIGNING TAB STUD BOLT STUD BOLT 4. Compress the damper spring with the spring com- pressor. 5. Install the damper mounting washer, then loosely install a new self-locking nut. 6. Hold the damper shaft with a hex wrench, and tighten the self-locking nut. SELF-LOCKING NUT 10 x 1.25 mm 29 N-m (3.0 kgf-m. DAMPER Installation 1. Loosely install the damper on the frame with the aligning tab facing inside, then loosely install the DAMPER FLANGE NUTS 10 x 1.25 mm 38 N-m (3.9 kgf-m, 28 Ibf-ft) ALIGNING TAB 2. Install the damper fork over the driveshaft and onto the lower arm. Install the damper in the damper fork so the aligning tab is aligned with the slot in the 3. Hand-tighten the bolts and nuts. 4. Raise the knuckle with a floor jack until the vehicle just lifts off the safety stand. NOTE: The bolts and nuts should be tightened with the vehicle's weight on the damper. The floor jack must be securely posi- tioned or personal injury may result. 22 N-m (2.2 kgf-m, ALIGNING 9.8 N-m (1.0 kgf-m, 7.2 Ibf-ft) DAMPER FORK 5. Tighten the flange bolt. SLOT 43 N-m (4.4 kgf-m, 32 Ibf-ft) 69 N-m 6. Tighten the flange bolt with a new self-locking nut. 7. Tighten the damper to the frame with the flange nuts. 8. Install the brake hose clamps.
