CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM

FAIL–SAFE CHART

If the following condition is detected while the cruise control is in operation, the system will clear
the stored vehicle speed in the ECM and cancel the cruise control operation.

Vehicle Condition

Auto Cancel Condition

Re–operation Condition

The CRUISE main indicator light blinks.



There is an open or short in the stop light switch

circuit.



There is a problem with the vehicle speed sig-

nal.



There is a problem with the throttle position sen-

sor and motor.



There is a problem with the input circuit of the

stop light switch circuit.



There is a problem with the cancel circuit.



Push the ON–OFF button of the cruise control

main switch on again.



Turn the ignition switch off.

DATA LIST
HINT:
According to the DATA LIST displayed by the the hand–held
tester, you can read the values of the switches, the sensors and
so on without parts removal. Reading the DATA LIST as a first
step in troubleshooting is one of the methods to shorten labor
time.
(a)

Connect the hand–held tester to the DLC3.

(b)

Turn the ignition switch ON.

(c)

According to the display on the tester, read the ”DATA
LIST”.
