2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST 

HINT: 

Using Techstream to perform Active Tests allows relays, VSVs, actuators and other items to be operated 
without removing any parts. This non-intrusive functional inspection can be very useful because 
intermittent operation may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Performing Active Tests 
early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. Data List information can be displayed while 
performing Active Tests. 

a. Connect Techstream to the DLC3.  

b. Turn the ignition switch ON.  

c. Turn the tester on.  

d. Enter the following menus:

DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT DOES NOT OPERATE 

DESCRIPTION 

When the ignition switch is ON, the center airbag sensor transmits front seat inner belt state signals to the meter 
ECU through CAN. If the driver seat belt is not fastened, the meter ECU blinks the driver side seat belt warning 
light. If the seat belt is fastened, the warning light goes off.

1. CHECK FOR DTC 

a. Check for DTCs. 

1. for CAN communication system (See CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM ).  

2. for Airbag system (see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE TABLE ). 

Result:  

DTC RESULT CHART 

B: Go TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM  

C: Go TO AIRBAG SYSTEM (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE TABLE ) 

A: Go to next step.  

2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY TECHSTREAM (DRIVER SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT) 

a. Operate Techstream according to the steps on the display and select "ACTIVE TEST" or "Active 

Test" (see DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST ). Driver side seat belt warn 

Techstream 

Combination Meter:  

COMBINATION METER TECHSTREAM REFERENCE 

OK: Driver side seat belt warning light condition can be switched by "ACTIVE TEST" 
or "Active Test".  

NG: REPLACE COMBINATION METER (See REMOVAL ) 

OK: Go to next step.  

3. REPLACE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY LH 

a. Temporarily replace the front seat inner belt LH with a new or normally functioning one (see 

REMOVAL ).  

4. CHECK DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT 

a. Check the driver side seat belt warning light function (see OPERATION CHECK ).

OK: Driver side seat belt warning light operates normally.  

NG: REPLACE COMBINATION METER (See REMOVAL ) 

OK: END (FRONT SEAT INNER BELT LH IS DEFECTIVE)  

FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT MALFUNCTION 

DESCRIPTION 

The meter ECU detects the state of the front seat inner belt RH when the front passenger side seat is occupied 
with the ignition switch ON. If the front passenger side seat belt is not fastened, the front passenger side seat 
belt warning light on the integration control and panel blinks. If the seat belt is fastened, the warning light goes 
off.
