REMOVAL

DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 

NOTE:



Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected 
(see INITIALIZATION ).  



After the ignition switch is turned OFF, the navigation system 
requires approximately 90 seconds to record various types of

REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD ASSEMBLY 

a

Remove the intake manifold (See REMOVAL )

REMOVE WATER BY-PASS PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )

REMOVE NO. 4 AIR INJECTION SYSTEM HOSE  

5

REMOVE AIR PUMP ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )

REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY

Remove the 2 bolts holding the starter to the cylinder block

Disconnect the starter from the cylinder block

Remove the bolt and disconnect the engine wire protector from the starter

Remove the bolt and ground wire

Disconnect the starter connector

Remove the nut and disconnect the starter wire   

memory and settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch 
OFF, wait 90 seconds or more before disconnecting the cable from 
the negative (-) battery terminal.

Remove the starter   

DISASSEMBLY

REMOVE STARTER DUST PROTECTOR 

a

Remove the 2 dust protectors

REMOVE STARTER YOKE ASSEMBLY 

a

Remove the nut and disconnect the lead wire from the magnetic switch terminal   

b

Remove the 2 bolts   

c

Pull out the starter yoke with the armature from the magnetic switch   

d

Remove the O-ring from the starter yoke

REMOVE STARTER CLUTCH SUB-ASSEMBLY

Remove the 2 bolts

Remove the return spring, idler gear, clutch roller, retainer, O-ring and starter clutch from the 
starter housing

Using a magnetic finger, remove the steel ball from the clutch shaft hole
