If the result is not as specified, replace the VSV assembly. 

b. Check the VSV operation. 

1. Check that air flows from port E to the filter. If the result is not as specified, replace the VSV 

assembly.

2. Apply battery voltage across the terminals.

3. Check that air flows from port E to F. 

If the result is not as specified, replace the VSV assembly. 

INSTALLATION 

1. INSTALL VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY (for ACIS) 

a. Connect the VSV connector.  

b. Install the VSV connector and VSV to the intake manifold with the 2 bolt. 

Torque: 7.5 N*m (76 kgf*cm, 66 in.*lbf)

c. Connect the 2 vacuum hoses to the VSV.  

2. INSTALL INTAKE MANIFOLD (see INSTALLATION )  

3. INSTALL FUEL MAIN TUBE (See INSTALLATION )  

4. INSTALL FUEL RETURN TUBE (See INSTALLATION )  

5. INSTALL NO. 2 WATER BYPASS PIPE (see INSTALLATION )  

6. INSTALL VACUUM HOSE ASSEMBLY (see INSTALLATION )  

7. INSTALL AIR CLEANER HOSE ASSEMBLY (see INSTALLATION )  

8. ADD ENGINE COOLANT (See REPLACEMENT )  

9. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )  

10. CHECK FOR FUEL LEAK (See INSPECTION )  

11. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER (See REPLACEMENT )  

12. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (see INSTALLATION )  

13. INSTALL FRONT COWL TOP OUTER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (see INSTALLATION )  

14. INSTALL FRONT WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY (see INSTALLATION )  

15. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

AIR CLEANER

REMOVAL 

1. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

a. Remove the 2 cap nuts and throttle body cover.

2. REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE ASSEMBLY 

a. Disconnect the vacuum hose and No. 2 ventilation hose.  

b. Loosen the 2 hose clamps.  

c. Remove the air cleaner hose. 

NOTE:

Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (see 
INITIALIZATION ).

3. REMOVE NO. 2 VENTILATION HOSE 

a. Remove the No. 2 ventilation hose.

b. Remove the vacuum hose.  

4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY 

a. Remove the air cleaner cap. 

1. Disconnect the MAF meter connector.  

2. Using a clip remover, detach the wire harness clamp.  

3. Unfasten the 4 hook clamps and then remove the air cleaner cap.  

b. Remove the air cleaner element.
