To compensate for a mbient and rolling 

noise, the Infotainment system  volum e 
adjusts to the speed of the vehicle. 
Ac tiv ate/deac tiv ate the SCV function  or 
cha ng e  the level  of  radio  volume 

compensation as follows:



Set the  volum e to the desired  lev el. 

See “Volume” on page 81.



Press the MENU 4 button  until the 

radio set-up  menu appears.

stations with a strong signa l  within the 

selected waveband.

Ra dio Data  System (RDS)
RDS is  a service provided by  the radio 

broadca sters which m akes it m uch easier 
to find an FM station  and helps to ensure 

reception is free from  interference.
z

RDS is only possib le on the 

FM waveband with FM stations that 
broadcast RDS  information.

z

When the radio is  tuned to an FM-RDS 
station, the station name or call letters 

appear on the display.

z

RDS relies upon receiving specific 

information from  FM-RDS stations and 
only works when the information is 

available.

z

In extremely rare c ases, a  radio  sta tion 

may  broadcast incorrect inform ation 
tha t causes  radio features to work 

inc orrectly.  Contact the radio  station in 
question for assistance.

Displaying a dditiona l RDS text 
informa tion

A choice of additiona l text information 
related to the  current FM -RDS station  can 

be displayed, e.g. channel, song and artist. 
To display a dditional  text information,

Station memory
The radio has a total of 36 station memory 

loca tions for any comb ination of radio

The  station memory locations  are 
selected via the appropriate 

buttons 6 located below the radio 
station frequency labels that app ear 

on the  display.

Storing favourite ra dio stations

Six favourite stations are ava ila ble on each 
of six separate pages of fav ourites. Each 

page  can contain  any comb ination of FM 
or AM  radio stations.
By pressing the FAV 2 (favourites) button 
continuously,  each of the six separate 

pages of favourites can be viewed and new 
stations stored on any of the 36 memory 

loca tions.

To store a  fa vourite radio station, 
proceed as follows;



Select wa veba nd  and station.



Press the FA V 2 (fa vourites) b utton 

until the page where you wish to store 
the selected  station is disp layed .



Six  ra dio station freq uency labels 
appear on the display.



Press a nd hold the app ropriate 
button 6 located below the label on 

which  the selected  station is to be

The number of fa vourites pag es c an be set 

up using  the MENU 4  button, up to a 
maximum of six sepa ra te pag es of 

favourites.
To change the  number  of favourites pa ges, 

proceed a s follows;



Press the MEN U 4 button until  the 

ra dio set-up menu  appea rs.



The FAV 1, FAV 2, FAV 3, FAV 4, FAV 5 

and FAV 6 labels  appea r  on  the 
display.



Press the appropriate button 6 
loca ted b elow the label that you wish 

to select.

Calibra tion error

The Infotainment system has been 
calibrated during vehicle production. If this 

message appears on the display, the 
system ha s not been ca lib ra ted correctly 

and m ust be returned  to your retailer for 
service. We recomm end that you  consult 

an Opel  Serv ice Partner.

Locked
If this message appea rs on the d isplay, the 

electronic theft-deterrent fea ture has 
locked up the radio. Take the  vehicle to 

your retailer for service. We  recomm end 
that you consult  an Opel Service Partner.

CD/MP3 player

This d evice plays standard c om mercial 

CDs with a diameter of 12 cm. You can a lso 
play CDs with a d ia meter of 8  cm with an 

adap ter.
9 Contoured CDs (Shape CDs) are not 

suitable for  playing.

9 Do  not insert DVDs  into the CD  drive.
9 Do not add  labels to a disc, as it could  

get stuck in the  player. If a  CD is 

recorded  on a personal computer (PC), 
only label the disc on  the  top  side  using 

a marker pen.

9 Do  not a ttempt to p lay scratched  or 

damaged CDs. Only use CDs in good 
condition, w ithout a lab el, loading 

them one  CD at  a time.

9 No liability is acc epted for damag e to 

the CD drive caused by the use of 
unsuita ble CDs or from attempting to 

insert more than one CD into the slot at 
a time.

z

Audio CDs are being  manufactured 
with mecha nisms to protec t them  from 

unauthorised reproduction. Howev er, 
these measures do not comply with the 

audio CD specification (Red  Book ) 
acc ording to  which a ll  appliances for 

playing  audio CDs have been and a re 
being developed. Your  Infotainment 

system can play back CDs with the 
typ es of copy p rotection  known a t the 

time the player is sold. However, this is 
not a g uarantee that it w ill  be  able to 

play b ack CDs with new  v ariants of the 
copy protection mechanisms in the 

future.

You can also play CD-Rs and CD-RWs w ith 

MP3 m usic files a nd  uncomp ressed CD 
audio files (with “.CDA” file extension) on 

the Infotainm ent system.
z

While playing a CD-R or CD-RW,  the 

sound  quality may be reduced due to 
disc quality, the m ethod of recording, 

the  quality of the m usic that has been 
record ed, and the w ay the disc has 

been handled. There may be an 
increa se in sk ipping, difficulty in 

finding tracks, and/or diffic ulty in 
loading  and ejecting.  If these problems 

occur, chec k the bottom surface of the 
disc. If  the surface of the  disc  is 

dam aged , e.g. crac ked, broken, or 
scratched, the disc will not play 

properly.

Playing a CD (six-disc CD player  3)
Inserting one CD

To insert one CD into the six-disc CD player, 
proceed a s follows;



Press and relea se the LOAD 1 button.



A  message  appears a fter a few 

second s a sking you to insert the disc.



Insert the CD (label side up ) part of the 

way into the  CD slot i.



The device  pulls the CD in 

autom atic ally.

z

The movement  of the CD  must not be 

hindered or aided.



The “CD”  symbol appears on  the 

display.



As  soon  as the first track   starts to  play, 

the track  number app ears on the 
display.

z

If a CD is in the player when the ignition 
or  the Infotainm ent system  is turned 

off, it remains in the p la yer. When the 
ignition or the  Infotainment  system is 

turned  on again, the CD b egins 
playing from  where it last stopped, if it 

was  the last selected a udio  source.

Inserting multiple CDs
To  insert m ultiple CDs into the six-disc CD 

player, proceed as follows;



Press and  hold  the  LOAD 1 button for 

app rox. two seconds.



A beep  sounds and “Load All Discs” 

app ears on the display.



Follow  the on-sc reen instructions for 

inserting multiple d iscs, inserting the 
CDs lab el side  up part of the  way into 

the CD slot i.



The devic e pulls the CDs in 

automatically.

z

The movem ent of the CD must not be 

hindered or aided.



Press the LOA D  1 button a gain to 

cancel loading of more CDs.



The  “CD” symb ol  appea rs on the 

display.



As soon a s the first track starts to play, 

the  tra ck number  appears on the 
display.

If  a CD is in  the p la yer  when  the ignition 
or the  Infotainment  system is turned 

off, it remains  in  the player. When the 
ignition or the Infotainment system is 

turned on ag ain, the CD begins 
playing  from where it last stopped , if it 

was the last selected audio source.

CD mode
If the Infotainment system is in radio mode 

and  you  wish  to  p la y  a  CD,  p roceed   as 
follows;


The Infotainment system  is in rad io 
mode.



A CD  is already  inserted in the 
single-CD or six-disc CD  player 3.



Press the CD/AUX a button.



The “CD” symbol app ears on the 

disp lay.



As soon as the first tra ck starts to play, 

the track  num ber ap pears on the 
disp lay.

By p ressing the  CD/AUX a button 
again, the Infotainment system 

searches for an auxiliary  inp ut  device, 
such as a  porta ble a udio p layer. See 

“Using  the Auxiliary Input Jack” on 
page 96.

playing , press the  BAN D h button.

Track selection
For  audio  CDs, the  tra ck is selected within 

the CD. 
For MP3-CDs, the track is selected  within 

the a lbum  selec ted.
If you w ish to select a track  while a  CD/

MP3-CD is playing, proceed as follows:

pressed  multiple times, the p layer 

continues  moving forwards or 
bac kwards through the  tracks on  the 

disc.

Fast forwa rd/backward s  search
To find a specific  section of  a track, 

proceed as follows:



You are listening  to  a track.



Press and  hold the FWD c or REV d 
button.



Playback  is ad vanced/rev ersed quickly 
within the track.



The sound is reduced during fa st 
forwa rd /bac kwards searching.



Release the FWD c or REV d  b utton 
when the desired section has been 

reached.



The track  starts to play again at the 

norm al v olume when either button has 
been released.



The elapsed trac k tim e appears on the 
disp lay.

MP3-CD pla yba ck
selec ting next/pr evious folder with 

MP3-CDs 
If your MP3-CD  contains several albums, 

you can select the  album you w ant  as 
follow s:

The folder lab els with < and > next to 

a folder icon ap pear on the disp lay.



Press the appropriate button 6 

loca ted below the fold er label you wish 
to select.



By selecting  the < folder label, the 
Infotainment  system goes b ack to the 

first track  in the prev ious folder.



By selecting  the > folder label, the 

Infotainment  system goes to the first 
tra ck in the  next folder.



When  the first  trac k in the p revious/
next folder starts to play, and the 

relev ant track information (a lb um  
na me,  track name or artist  name) 

appea rs on the  displa y.

All  the folders which do not contain 

MP3 files a re automatically sk ipped. 

Switching betw een comp ressed and 
unc ompressed a ud io files w ith MP3-CDs 3

The Infotainm ent system c an play  discs 
containing both uncompressed  CD audio 

files  (w ith “.CDA” file  extension) and 
compressed a udio files  (MP3 files).
By d efault, the system  reads  and  plays  only 
the uncompressed a udio  files  and  ignores 

the MP3 files.
To  switch between uncompressed a nd 

compressed files,  proceed as follow s;



Press the CAT 9 category button.



The Infotainment system will only read 
and p lay the  previously ignored  files.

MP3-CD m usic  navig ator
Use  the music navigator feature to play 

MP3 files on the disc in order by artist or b y 
album, as follows; 


You are listening  to  an MP3-CD.



Press the appropriate button  6 

located  below the music  navigator 
label B on  the display.



The Infotainment system scans the disc 
to sort the files  by  artist and  album  ID3 

tag inform ation. 

z

It can take several m inutes to scan the 

disc  depending on  the num ber of MP3 
files recorded on the d isc.  The radio 

may  begin to p lay while  the 
Infotainment system is scanning the 

disc  in the bac kground. 



When the scan is finished, the disc 

beg ins playing  again and the system 
defaults to playing M P3 files in order 

by a rtist.



The current artist playing  is shown  on 

the second line of the display between 
the arrows.



Once all song s b y that artist are 
played, the Infotainment system 

moves  to the  next artist in a lp ha betical 
order on the  disc  and begins playing 

MP3 files by that artist.

If you wish to listen to MP3 files by another 
artist, proceed as follows;



Press the appropriate button 6 
loca ted below either arrow lab el on the 

display. 



The disc goes to the next/prev ious 

artist in alphabetical order.



Press the appropriate button 6 

loca ted below either arrow button until 
the desired artist  appears on the 

display.



Files b y the selected artist are p la yed .

To  cha ng e  from  pla yback  by  artist  to 
playback  by album, proceed as follows;



Press the ap prop ria te button 6 
located b elow the ‘Sort By’ label on the 

display. 



From the sort screen, press the 

app ropriate button  6 located  below 
the  album label on the display.



Press the ap prop ria te button 6 
located below the ‘Bac k’ la bel  to  return 

to the  main music navigator screen.



The album name appears on the 

display  - on  the second line between 
the  arrow s -  and tracks from the 

current album  beg in to  play.

Once all tra cks from  tha t album are 

played, the Infotainment system 
mov es to the next album  in 

alphabetical order  on  the disc and 
begins  playing MP3 files from that 

album.

To exit music nav ig ator mode, press the 

appropriate b utton 6 located below the 
‘Back’ label to return to norma l MP3 

playback .
Random m ode

If you use this func tion, the CD/MP3 player 
will play back  the tracks of the current d isc 

in ra nd om  order.

Single CD
To play the track s from  a single CD  in 

random order, proceed  as  follows;



Press the CD/AUX a button to enter 

CD m od e.
- or - 



Insert the CD (lab el sid e up) p art of the 
way  into the CD slot i.



The device pulls the CDs in 
autom atically.

The mov ement of the CD must not be 
hindered or aided .



An ‘RDM’ label ap pears on the d isplay.

To play the tracks from all  discs loaded in 

the six-disc CD player in random order, 
proceed a s follows;



Press the CD/AUX a button to enter 
CD mode - or -  press  and hold the 

LOAD 1 button for  approx.  tw o 
second s.



A beep sounds and “Load All Discs” 
appea rs on the  displa y.



Follow the  on-screen instructions for 
inserting m ultiple discs, inserting the 

CDs label  side up pa rt  of  the way into 
the CD slot i.

To eject the CD that is currently  playing, 

proceed as follows;



Press the EJECT 0 button.



A  beep  sound s  a nd   “Ejecting  Disc” 
appears  on the display.



Once the d isc is ejected, “Remove 
Disc”  appea rs on the  disp la y.



Rem ov e the disc from  the p la yer.

z

If the disc  is not removed, after several 

seconds it is a utoma tica lly retracted 
and begins to p la y.
- or - 



With the six-disc  CD player  3, press 

and hold the  EJECT 0  button for two 
seconds.



All disc s a re ejected.



Rem ov e the discs from  the six-disc CD

If the d iscs are not  removed, a fter 

severa l seconds they are automatically 
retracted.

CD m essages
The message ‘CHECK DISC’ a ppears on the 

display if a  problem  occurs and  the 
CD player does not operate correctly. 
If this  message  appears or if the CD is 
ejected  automatically, it could  be  for  one of 

the following rea sons:
–

The CD  is d irty, scratched,  wet, or 

up side down.

–

The air is very humid. 

If so, wait app rox. one hour and try 
again.

–

There ma y have been a  prob lem while 
burning the  CD.

–

The label may be  caught in the 
CD player.

–

It  is  very  hot. 
When the temperature returns to 

norma l, the CD should pla y.

–

You are  driving on a v ery rough road. 

When  the road surfa ce b ecomes 
smoother,  the CD should play.

If the  CD is not playing  correctly, for any 
other reason, try a known good CD.
If any error occ urs repeated ly or if  an error 
cannot be  corrected , we recom mend that 

you consult a n  Opel Service  Partner. 
If the  radio displays an error m essag e, 

write it down and provide it to your retailer 
when reporting  the problem.

Using  the auxiliary input ja ck
Your Infotainment system has  an auxiliary 

input jack  b located on the lower right 
side of the Entertainment Head Unit (EHU).
This is not  an audio outp ut; 
Do not p lug headphones into the 

auxiliary input jack  b.
You can howev er,  connect an external 

audio device such as a laptop computer 3, 
MP3 p layer  3, CD  cha nger 3, or c assette 

player 3, to the  auxiliary input jack  b for 
use as another audio source.
To  use  a portable audio player, connect  a 
3.5 m m phone p lug  to  the auxiliary  inp ut 

ja ck b.

When a  devic e is connected, to begin 
playing  audio  from the dev ice throug h the 

vehicle’s spea kers, proceed  as  follows;



You are listening  to  a CD/MP3.



Press the CD/AUX a button.



Aud io  from  the external audio d evice 

connected  starts to play.

z

If a portable audio player is not 

connected, “No Input Device Found” 
appears  on the display.

z

If the v olume of the  connected 
portable aud io player does not go as 

loud  or  soft as you w ish using  the 

X

e

k nob  (see pa ge 81), you ma y 

need to mak e ad ditional v olume 
adjustments on the portable  aud io 

player itself.

To switch back  to  the CD/MP3 you were 

playing , press the  CD/A UX a button 
aga in.
To switch to radio mode while  a portable 
audio dev ic e is playing, press the BAN D h 

button.

The  p ortab le  a udio  dev ice  continues  to 

play, so you may w ish to stop it or turn 
it off.

If your Infotainment system  does not 

func tion as you would expect, plea se read 
these Operating  Instructions ca refully and 

go throug h the following checklist before 
contacting Custom er Services.
If you c annot find a  solution  to  the 
problem , we rec om mend  that  you  consult 

an Opel  Servic e Partner.

General advice

During  norm al radio reception, you m ay 

experience frequency interference and 
static if items such as mobile  phone 

chargers, v ehicle convenience a ccessories, 
and external  elec tronic devices  are 

plugged into  the acc essory  power socket.
If there is  interference or static,  unplug the 

item  from  the ac cessory power outlet.

FM recep tion
Despite a high degree of technical 

perfection, recep tion in v ehicle radio sets is 
different from that in home radio sets 

and some interference may occur, even 
with FM-RDS stations.
Tall buildings or hills can interfere w ith FM 
signa ls, causing sound to fade in and  out.
FM stereo w ill  give  the best  sound, 
but FM signals w ill  reach only a pprox. 

16 to 65 km  (10 to 40 miles).

AM reception
The range for most AM stations is g reater 

than for FM, especially at nig ht. The longer 
ra ng e can  cause sta tion freq uencies to 

interfere  with  each other. For better rad io 
reception,  most  AM  radio stations will 

boost the power levels during  the day, and 
then reduce these  levels d uring the night. 
Static can a lso occur when  events such as 
storms interfere with radio recep tion. When 

this happens,  try red ucing the treble on 
your Infotainment system.

Hand ling CDs
Handle CDs ca refully. Avoid leaving 

fingerprints on the CDs when changing  
them . Replace CDs in their cases 

imm ediately after  removing them, to stop 
them  from  getting d amaged, dusty and 

dirty.
Dirt and liquids on CDs m ay ma ke  the 

Infotainment system’s CD player lens dirty 
and result in m alfunctions.
Do not expose CDs to heat or direct 
sunlight. 
The CD player scans the bottom  surface of 
the disc. If the surface of a CD is da maged, 

e.g. cra cked , broken or scratched, the CD 
will not play properly or not  at all. 
If the surface of a CD  is soiled, take a soft, 
lint-free  cloth or  dampen a  clean,  soft c loth 

in a mild, neutra l detergent solution mixed 
with water, and  clean it.  Make  sure the 

wiping p rocess starts  from  the centre, 
going out towards the edge of the disc.
Do not touch the b ottom side of a CD while 
handling it; this could dama ge the surface. 

Pick up CDs b y grasping the outer edges or 
the edge of the hole and the outer edg e.

care. 
Observing the recommendations listed 

below  will prevent your wa rranty  from  
expiring  prem aturely and  ensure that you 

will be ab le to enjoy your product for m any 
years. 
Note the following when using  your 
Infotainm ent system:

Nev er try to open the Infotainment 
system. Incorrec t ha nd ling can 

damage the Infotainment system.

Do not use aggressive chemicals, 

cleaning liquids  or  agents to clean the 
Infotainment system. Use a soft cloth 

moistened with a mild soap solution to 
clean your Infotainment system .

–

Do not attem pt to clean the CD player 
using CD lens c leaners. The  lens of the 

CD optics may become  contam inated 
with  lubrica nts from the  CD lens 

cleaner.

–

Do not paint or colour the Infota inment 
system. Paint  can make mov ing  parts 

sticky and  stop them functioning 
correc tly.

–

Do not store combustib le liq uids, gases 
or explosiv es in the same room as the 

Infotainment system, its  parts  or 
acc essories.

–

The Infotainment system should only 
be serviced by experts. Incorrec t 

insta lla tion or serv ic ing  of  the 
Infotainment system  can have 

dangerous consequences and result in 
the  warranty becoming void.

Fixed m ast antenna
Check occa sionally to m ake sure the ma st 

is still fixed tightly to the vehicle. If 
tightening is req uired, tighten b y hand.

RDS (Ra dio Data  System)
RDS is  a service provided by  the radio 

broadca sters which m akes it m uch easier 
to find an FM station  and helps to ensure 

reception is free of  interference. 
RDS stations  are identified by the name of 

the  station on the d isplay instead of the 
freq uency.
RDS stations transmit information which is 
automatically  eva luated by the RDS radio 

if RDS is  activated .

Sp eed Compensated Volume (SCV)
To compensa te for ambient and rolling 

noise, the Infotainment system v olume 
adjusts to the speed of the v ehicle.

Radio reception 

Ca r radio reception differs from  domestic 

radio reception: 
As the vehicle a ntenna  is relatively near 

the g round,  the broadcasting companies 
cannot guarantee the same quality of 

reception as obtained w ith  a domestic 
radio using  an overhead antenna. 
z Changes in distance from the 

transmitter, 

z Multi-path reception due to reflection 

and  

z Shadowing 
may ca use  static , noise,  distortion or  loss of 

reception altogether.

Mobile telephones and radio 

equipment (CB)

The Opel installation instructions and 
the opera ting  guid elines provided by the 

telep hone ma nufacturer must be ob served 
when fitting  and opera ting  a mobile 

telep hone. Failure to do so could invalidate 
the v ehicle’s operating permit (EU Directive 

95/54/EG).
Prerequisites for  fault-free operation:
z Professionally insta lled exterior antenna 

to obtain the  maximum  rang e possib le,

z Maximum transm ission  power 10 Watts,
z Installation of the telephone in a suitable 

spot (see  information on page 49). 

Obtain ad vice  on p redetermined  

installation  loc ations for the external 
antenna  and equipment holder  and ways 

of using dev ices w ith transmission power of 
more than 10  Wa tts.

Operation of a  handsfree attachment with 
no outside antenna,  using the m obile 

telephone standards GSM  900/1800/1900 
and U MTS, m ay tak e plac e only if the 

ma ximum transmission power  of the 
mobile telephone does not exceed 2 W, in 

the  case of GSM  900, and  otherwise 1 W. 
The op erating instructions of the 

ma nufacturer of the telephone and 
handsfree attachment m ust be noted  in all 

cases.
For reasons of safety, we recommend that 

you d o  not use  the phone while driving. 
Even use  of  a hands-free set  can be  a 

distraction while driving. Be sure to observ e 
any country-specific regulations.

telephones a nd  radio eq uipm ent (CB) 

with  integrated  antenna may cause 
malfunctions in the vehicle electronics. 
Mobile telephones and rad io  equipment 
(CB) should only be used with an antenna
