P1800 INTAKE MANIFOLD TUNING VALVE

DTC DETECTION LOGIC

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

1.

CONDITIONING

If DTC Confirmation Procedure has been previously conducted, always perform the following before conduct-

ing the next test.

1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

2. Turn ignition switch ON.

3. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

TESTING CONDITION:

Before performing the following procedure, confirm battery voltage is more than 11 V at idle.

>> GO TO 2.

PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

1. Start engine and warm it up to the normal operating temperature. [more than 60

°C (140°F)]

2. Let it idle for at least 10 seconds. (engine speed: less than 1,000 rpm)

3. Check 1st trip DTC.
Is 1st trip DTC detected?

YES

>> Proceed to 

EC-408, "Diagnosis Procedure"

.

NO

>> INSPECTION END

Diagnosis Procedure

1.

CHECK INTAKE MANIFOLD TUNING VALVE MOTOR POWER SUPPLY

1. Turn ignition switch ON.

2. Check the voltage between ECM harness connector.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 3.

NO

>> GO TO 2.

2.

CHECK INTAKE MANIFOLD TUNING VALVE MOTOR POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT

1. Turn ignition switch OFF.

2. Disconnect ECM harness connector.

3. Disconnect IPDM E/R harness connector.

4. Check the continuity between ECM harness connector and IPDM E/R harness connector.

5. Also check harness for short to ground.
Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> Perform the trouble diagnosis for power supply circuit.

NO

>> Repair or replace error-detected parts.

CHECK INTAKE MANIFOLD TUNING VALVE MOTOR OUTPUT SIGNAL CIRCUIT

1. Disconnect intake manifold tuning valve motor harness connector.

2. Check the continuity between intake manifold tuning valve motor harness connector and ECM harness

connector.

3. Also check harness for short to ground and to power.
Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 4.

NO

>> Repair or replace error-detected parts.

CHECK INTAKE MANIFOLD TUNING VALVE MOTOR

Check the intake manifold tuning valve motor. Refer to 

EC-409, "Component Inspection (Intake Manifold Tun-

ing Valve)"

.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> Check intermittent incident. Refer to 

GI-39, "Intermittent Incident"

.

NO

>> Replace intake manifold assembly. Refer to 

EM-27, "Removal and Installation"

.

Component Inspection (Intake Manifold Tuning Valve)

CHECK INTAKE MANIFOLD TUNING VALVE MOTOR

1. Turn ignition switch OFF.

2. Disconnect intake manifold tuning valve motor harness connector.

3. Check the resistance between intake manifold tuning valve motor terminals as per the following.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> INSPECTION END

NO

>> Replace intake manifold. Refer to 

EM-27, "Removal and Installation"

Since this DTC is difficult to be confirmed, check component function to judge the normality.

1.

CHECK BRAKE SWITCH FUNCTION

With CONSULT

1. On the CONSULT screen, select “ENGINE” >> “DATA MONITOR” >> “BRAKE SW 2”.

2. Check “STOP LAMP SW” indication under the following conditions.

Without CONSULT

1. Turn ignition switch ON.

2. Check the voltage between ECM harness connector terminals under the following conditions.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> INSPECTION END

NO

>> Proceed to 

EC-410, "Diagnosis Procedure"

.

CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH OPERATION

1. Turn power switch OFF.

2. Check the stop lamp when depressing and releasing the brake pedal.

CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH POWER SUPPLY

1. Disconnect stop lamp switch harness connector.

2. Check the voltage between stop lamp switch harness connector and ground.

3. Also check harness for short to ground.
Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 4.

NO

>> GO TO 3.

CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT

1. Pull out #30 fuse.

2. Check that the fuse is not fusing.

3. Check the continuity between stop lamp switch harness connector and fuse terminal.

4. Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> Check power supply circuit for 12V battery power supply.

NO

>> Repair or replace error-detected parts.

CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH 

Check stop lamp switch. Refer to 

EC-412, "Component Inspection (Stop Lamp Switch)"

.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> GO TO 5.

NO

>> Replace stop lamp switch. Refer to 

BR-22, "Exploded View"

.

5.

CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH INPUT SIGNAL CIRCUIT

1. Disconnect stop lamp switch harness connector.

2. Disconnect ECM harness connector.

3. Check the continuity between stop lamp switch harness connector and ECM harness connector.

4. Also check harness for short to ground.
Is the inspection result normal?

YES

>> Check intermittent incident. Refer to 

GI-39, "Intermittent Incident"

.

NO

>> Repair or replace error-detected parts.
