Code No. P2100: Throttle Valve Control Servo Circuit (open)

OPERATION

• Controls the current that is applied from the 

engine-ECU (terminals No. 7, No. 22) to the elec-
tronic-controlled throttle valve (terminals No. 5, 
No. 6).

FUNCTION

• Engine-ECU varies the direction and the amper-

age of the current that is applied to the throttle 
valve control servo in order to control the opening 
of the throttle valve.

TROUBLE JUDGMENT

Check Conditions

• Ignition switch is in "ON" position.

• Throttle valve control servo supply voltage is 

more than 6.0 V.

• Battery voltage is more than 8.3 V.

Judgement Criterion

• There is deviation between throttle valve actual 

opening angle and target opening angle.

PROBABLE CAUSE

• Failed throttle valve control servo.

• Open/short circuit in throttle valve control servo 

circuit or lose connector contact.

• Failed engine-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Connector check: A-107 
electronic-controlled throttle valve connector

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 2 .

NO : 

Repair or replace.

STEP 2. Perform resistance measurement at 
A-107 electronic-controlled throttle valve 
connector.

• Disconnect connector, and measure at elec-

tronic-controlled throttle valve side.

• Resistance between terminal No. 6 and No. 5.

OK: 0.3 

− 100 kΩ (at 20°C)

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 3 .

NO : 

Replace throttle body assembly.

STEP 3. Connector check: A-08 engine-ECU 
connector

Q: Is the check result normal? 

YES : 

Go to Step 4 .

NO : 

Repair or replace.

STEP 4. Perform resistance measurement at A-08 
engine-ECU connector.

• Disconnect connector and measure at harness 

side.

• Resistance between terminal No. 93, No. 108 

and earth.

OK: Continuity (2 

Ω or less)

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 5 .

NO : 

• Check intermediate connector A-30, and 

repair if necessary. If intermediate 
connector is normal, check and repair 
harness between engine-ECU connector 
and earth.

a. Check and repair harness between 

A-08 (terminal No. 93) engine-ECU 
connector and earth.

b. Check and repair harness between 

A-08 (terminal No. 108) engine-ECU 
connector and earth.

STEP 5. Check harness between A-107 (terminal 
No. 6) electronic-controlled throttle valve 
connector and A-114 (terminal No. 7) engine-ECU 
connector.

• Check output line for short circuit and damage.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 6 .

NO : 

Repair.

• Check output line for short circuit and damage.

YES :

Repair.

STEP 7. Check the trouble symptoms.
