No display at all.

INSPECT GROUND CIRCUIT

INSPECT POWER SOURCE

HINT : While carrying out the following inspection, make certain that the connectors and terminals are properly con-
nected.

Turn ignition switch ON.
Do warning lights light up?

Is GAUGE fuse normal?

Open circuit in wire harness
between GAUGE fuse and
combination meter.

GAUGE fuse faulty.

Short circuit in wire harness on
vehicle side.

Disconnect connector ”B” from

meter.

Inspect connector on wire

harness side as follows.

Replace GAUGE fuse and turn
ignition switch ON.
Is fuse normal?

Disconnect connectors from

meter and replace GAUGE fuse.

Then turn ignition switch ON.

Is fuse normal?

Replace circuit plate.
Then recheck system.

Is there continuity (no resistance) between terminal

B15 and ground?

COMBINATION
METER

Yes

Turn ignition switch ON . Is there battery positive

voltage between terminals D3 and B15?

Open circuit in wire harness between terminal

of meter and ground.

Ground faulty.

Open circuit in wire harness between terminal D3 of

meter and GAUGE fuse.

Replace circuit plate. Then recheck system.

One indicator needle does not light up.

The character plate is illuminated on one
side.

HINT : While carrying out the following inspection, make certain that the connectors and terminals are properly con-
nected.

Disconnect connector ”B” from meter.
Inspect connector on wire harness side as follows.

Is there continuity (no resistance) between terminal

B15 and ground?

Turn ignition switch ON . Is there battery positive
voltage between terminals D3 and B15?

Open circuit in wire harness between terminal

of meter and ground.

Ground faulty.

Open circuit in wire harness between terminal D3 of

meter and GAUGE fuse.

Replace circuit plate. Then recheck system.

HINT : While carrying out the following inspection, make certain that the connectors and terminals are properly con-
nected.

Disconnect connector ”B” from meter.

Inspect connector on wire harness side as follows.

Is there continuity (no resistance) between terminal

B15 and ground?

Open circuit in wire harness between terminal D3

of meter and ground.

Ground faulty.

Replace circuit plate. Then recheck system.

Turn ignition switch ON . Is there battery positive
voltage between terminals D3 and B15?

INSPECT POWER SOURCE

Yes

Is LED OK?

Replace the LED.
Then recheck system.

Is bulb OK?

Open circuit in wire harness between terminal D3 of

meter and GAUGE fuse.

Replace circuit plate. Then recheck system.

INSPECT TAILLIGHT SIGNAL CIRCUIT

Does voltage change between terminal B8 and
ground as follows?

Taillight signal circuit faulty on vehicle side.
Inspect illumination light system.

Battery positive voltage

Replace rheostat light control volume.
Then recheck system.

Wire harness faulty between terminal D1 of meter
and terminal D2 of rheostat volume and rheostat
light control.

Is operation normal?

Connect connector to rheostat volume.

Disconnect connector ”D” from meter.

Inspect connector on wire harness side as follows.

Turn ignition switch ON. Does voltage change

evenly between terminal D1 and D2 when rheostat

knob is turned?

Replace circuit plate. Then recheck system.

Replace circuit plate. Then recheck system.

Does not go out while starter running.

Speedometer does not operate while

Replace circuit plate. Then recheck system.

and ST fuse.

Turn ignition switch START.

Is there battery positive voltage between terminal and

ground or B16?

Does odometer operate while driving?

Does trip meter operate while driving?

Jack up the vehicle.

Turn ignition switch ON. Rotate propeller shaft.

Does the voltage between terminals C9 and C10

change (approx. 0V to 11V or more) per revolution of

propeller shaft?

Disconnect connector ”C” from meter.
Inspect connector on wire harness side as follows.

HINT : While carrying out the following inspection, make certain that the connectors and terminals are properly con-
nected.

INSPECT TRIP METER OPERATION

INSPECT ODOMETER OPERATION

Replace speedometer.
Then recheck system.
