9. Tighten the bolt on the J 29714-A in order to compress the servo cover. See Special Tools and 

Equipment .

10. Install the servo cover retaining ring.

J 26900-13 Magnetic Indicator Base

J 35138 Converter End Play Checker. See Special Tools and Equipment .

1. Inspect the torque converter and replace if any of the following conditions exist: 

z

Evidence of damage to the pump assembly.  

z

Metal particles are found after flushing the cooler and cooler lines.  

z

External leaks in the hub area.  

z

Converter pilot is broken, damaged or poor fit into the crankshaft.  

z

Converter hub is scored or damaged.  

z

Internal damage to the stator.  

z

Contamination from engine coolant.
