The length of the selector cable can be adjusted. 

The spring in the gearshift lever pulls the selector cable into the neutral position of the gate 
for 3rd/4th gear. 

The gearshift lever is locked in this position using an adjustment tool. 

The adjustment mechanism is located at the end nearest the transmission.
