1. Testing EVAP Canister, Canister Vent Solenoid Flow & Canister Vent Hose - Connect Evaporative
Emissions System Leak Tester (134-00056) to fuel filler pipe. Pressurize system to 14 in. H2O (3.48
kPa). If pressure drops immediately, EVAP system is not blocked, go to step 6 . On models equipped
with a canister vent hose assembly, if pressure does not drop immediately, go to next step. On models
equipped with canister vent solenoid, if pressure does not drop immediately, go to step 3 . On all other
models, if pressure does not drop immediately, go to step 4 .
2. Testing Canister Vent Hose Assembly For Blockage
Disconnect canister vent hose assembly from EVAP canister. EVAP canisters are located on top of or
near the fuel tank. Pressurize system to 14 in. H2O (3.48 kPa). If pressure does not drop immediately, go
to step 4 . If pressure drops immediately, replace canister vent solenoid hose assembly. Perform
evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST .
If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLES in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - CNG, FLEX-FUEL &
GASOLINE article. Ensure PENDING CODE CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is
performed.
3. Testing Canister Vent Solenoid For Blockage
Remove canister vent solenoid. Vent solenoid is located on or near EVAP canister. Pressurize system to
14 in. H2O (3.48 kPa). If pressure does not drop immediately, go to next step. If pressure drops
immediately, replace canister vent solenoid. Perform evaporative emissions system leak test. See
EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST . If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLES
in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - CNG, FLEX-FUEL & GASOLINE article. Ensure PENDING CODE
CHECK & EVAP MONITOR "BYPASS" CHECK is performed.
4. Testing EVAP Canister
Disconnect EVAP canister tube from fuel tank at "F" fitting from EVAP canister. EVAP canisters are
located on top of or near the fuel tank. Pressurize system to 14 in. H2O (3.48 kPa). If pressure does not
drop immediately, go to next step. If pressure drops immediately, replace EVAP canister. Perform
evaporative emissions system leak test. See EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM LEAK TEST .
If system passes, perform DRIVE CYCLES in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - CNG, FLEX-FUEL &
NOTE:
After each service or repair procedure has been completed, reconnect all
components and perform DRIVE CYCLES in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - CNG, FLEX-
FUEL & GASOLINE article. Ensure PENDING CODE CHECK & EVAP MONITOR
"BYPASS" CHECK is performed. Clear DTCs and repeat QUICK TEST in SELF-
DIAGNOSTICS - CNG, FLEX-FUEL & GASOLINE article to ensure all EEC-V
systems are working properly and DTCs are no longer present.
NOTE:
Enter this test only when all steps under QUICK TEST have been successfully
completed and hiss still exists when fuel cap is opened or if directed here from
another test or chart.
