BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1

APPLICABILITY

1. Disconnect all jumper wires and reconnect all previously disconnected components and
connectors.
2. If the Body Control Module (BCM) was replaced, with the DRBIII

t, program the country code

into the BCM’s memory.
3. Program all RKE Transmitters and other options as necessary.
4. If any HVAC door actuator circuits were repaired, with the DRBIII

t in HVAC, System Tests,

select Actuator Circuit Test.
5. If any HVAC door actuators were replaced/door linkage was repaired, with the DRBIII

t in

HVAC, System Tests, select HVAC Door Recalibration.
6. Ensure that all accessories are turned off and the battery is fully charged.
7. With the DRBIII

t, record and erase all DTCs from ALL modules. Start and run the engine

for 2 minutes. Operate all functions of the system that caused the original concern.
8. Turn the ignition off and wait 5 seconds. Turn the ignition on and using the DRBIII

t, read

DTCs from ALL modules.
Are any DTC’s present or is the original condition still present?

All

Yes

→ Repair is not complete, refer to the appropriate symptom.

No

→ Repair is complete.

POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 1

APPLICABILITY

1. Inspect the vehicle to ensure that all engine components are properly installed and
connected. Reassemble and reconnect components as necessary.
2. Inspect the engine oil for contamination. If oil contamination is suspected, change the oil and
filter.
3. If the PCM was not replaced skip steps 4 through 6 and continue the verification.
4. If the PCM was replaced the correct VIN and mileage must be programmed or a DTC will set
in the ABS and Air Bag modules.
5. In addition, start the vehicle 20 times after the module is replaced. After 20 starts, the new
PCM is in the proper in-field mode and will kill the fuel if it doesn’t receive the VTA Status
J1850 message from the BCM.
6. For ABS and Air Bag systems: Enter correct VIN and Mileage in PCM. Erase codes in ABS
and Air Bag modules.
7. Attempt to start the engine.
Is the vehicle still unable to start or are there any DTCs or symptoms remaining?

All

Yes

→ Check for any related Technical Service Bulletins and/or refer to the

appropriate Symptoms list (Diagnostic Procedure).

No

→ Repair is complete.

POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 1

APPLICABILITY

1. NOTE: After completing the Powertrain Verification Test the Transmission Verifi-
cation Test must be performed.
2. NOTE: If the PCM has been replaced and the correct VIN and mileage have not
been programmed, a DTC will be set in the ABS Module, Airbag Module and the
SKIM.
3. NOTE: If the vehicle is equipped with a Sentry Key Immobilizer System, Secret Key
data must be updated. Refer to the Service Information for the PCM, SKIM and the
Transponder (ignition key) for programming information.
4. Inspect the vehicle to ensure that all components related to the repair are connected properly.
5. Inspect the engine oil for fuel contamination. Replace the oil and filter as necessary.
6. Attempt to start the engine.
7. If the No Start condition is still present, refer to the symptom list and perform the diagnostic
testing as necessary. refer to any Technical Service Bulletins that may apply.
8. Run the engine for one warm-up cycle to verify operation.
9. With the DRBIII

t, confirm that no DTCs or Secondary Indicators are present and that all

components are functioning properly.
10. If a DTC is present, refer to the appropriate category and select the corresponding symptom.
Are any DTCs present?

All

Yes

→ Repair is not complete, refer to appropriate symptom.

No

→ Repair is complete.

TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST

APPLICABILITY

1. Ensure the air pressure is properly set in ALL tires.
2. Ensure using the DRBIII

t that the TPM Module is programmed with ALL four Tire Pressure

Sensor/Transmitter ID’s.
3. Ensure the Tire Pressure Sensor/Transmitters are transmitting using the Miller tool 9001
RF detector.
4. Turn the ignition off.
5. Connect all previously disconnected components and connectors.
6. Turn the ignition on.
7. With the DRBIII

t, erase TPM and BCM DTC’s.

8. Turn the ignition off.
9. Turn the ignition on and ensure that the

9LO TIRE9 LCD message is neither flashing or on

continuously.
10. With the DRBIII

t, read TPM and BCM DTC’s.

11. If any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC’s) are present, return to Symptom list and
troubleshoot new or recurring symptom.
12. If there are no DTC’s present after turning ignition on, road test the vehicle for at least 10
minutes above 33 Km/h (20 mph, WITHOUT the DRBIII

t installed.

13. Caution: Ensure braking capability is available before road testing.
14. Ensure that the

9LO TIRE9 LCD message is neither flashing or on continuously after road

test.
15. Again, with the DRBIII

t read TPM and BCM DTC’s. If any DTC’s are present, return to

Symptom list.
16. If there are no DTC’s present, and the customer’s complaint can no longer be duplicated, the
repair is complete.

All

Yes

→ Repair is not complete, refer to appropriate symptom.

No

→ Repair is complete.

VTSS VERIFICATION TEST - 1A

APPLICABILITY

1. If the PCM has been replaced, the theft alarm will arm, but the engine run disable function
will not stop the engine from running. The engine will have to be started and ran above 400
RPM, 20 times to enable this feature. This is available on the DRB.
2. Remove the ignition key (but keep in hand).
3. Ensure doors, hood, and decklid are closed.
4. Lock the doors with the RKE transmitter or power door lock switch.
5. Observe the VTSS Indicator.
6. The VTSS Indicator will flash rapidly for approximately 15 seconds and then begin to flash
slowly. If the VTSS Indicator is not performing as described, this indicates a system fault. Refer
to symptom list for problems related to THEFT ALARM WILL NOT ARM.
7. Perform a system test on the VTSS by duplicating the original complaint.
8. Disarm the system and with the DRBIII

t, read DTC’s.

9. If the original complaint is corrected and there are no DTC’s the repair is complete.
