from steering column shaft using puller. Remove INSTALLATION CAUTION: Do not install steering wheel onto col- (1) Feed clockspring wiring leads through hole in rear of steering wheel. Align steering wheel’s wide (2) Install steering wheel retaining bolt and tighten it until wheel is fully installed on shaft (Fig. (3) Place driver airbag near clockspring wiring and connect horn switch wiring connector (Fig. 21). (4) Connect squib wires (match colors of connector ends) to driver airbag (Fig. 21). Make airbag connec- (5) Attach squib wiring routing clips to steering wheel (Fig. 21). (6) Place driver airbag into position and install three mounting screws. Tighten mounting screws to NOTE: When reconnecting the battery on a vehicle (7) Reconnect ground cable to negative post of bat- tery in following manor: (a) Connect scan tool (DRBIII t) to data link diagnostic connector located below steering column. (b) Turn ignition key to ON position. Exit vehi- cle with scan tool leaving scan tool harness (c) Ensuring that there are no occupants in vehi- cle, connect ground (-) cable to negative post of bat- (d) Using scan tool, read and record any fault codes. Refer to Appropriate Diagnostic Information (e) Erase any stored faults if there are no active fault codes.
