(8) Install push pins that secure lower air dam to

radiator fan shroud (Fig. 21).

(9) Lower vehicle.
(10) Install air cleaner housing assembly, connect

throttle body air inlet hose (Refer to 9 - ENGINE/
AIR INTAKE SYSTEM - INSTALLATION).

CAUTION: Do not run engine with power steering
fluid below the full mark in the reservoir. Severe
damage to the hydraulic cooling fan or the engine
can occur.

(11) Refill power steering fluid reservoir and bleed

air from steering system.

(12) Run engine and check for leaks.

RADIATOR

REMOVAL

(1) Disconnect the negative battery cable from bat-

tery.

(2) Drain the cooling system (Refer to 7 - COOL-

ING/ENGINE - STANDARD PROCEDURE - DRAIN-
ING COOLING SYSTEM).

(3) Disconnect throttle body air inlet hose, remove

air cleaner housing assembly (Refer to 9 - ENGINE/
AIR INTAKE SYSTEM - REMOVAL).

(4) Remove oil cooler attaching fasteners. Do Not

disconnect oil cooler lines. Reposition oil cooler.

(5) Remove radiator fan fasteners. Do Not discon-

nect radiator fan hydraulic lines. Reposition radiator
fan (Fig. 23).

(6) Disconnect upper and lower radiator hoses.
(7) Remove the radiator mounting bolts (Fig. 23).
(8) Remove A/C condenser mounting fasteners

(Fig. 24).

(9) Remove radiator from engine compartment.

Care should be taken not to damage radiator
cooling fins during removal.

INSTALLATION

(1) Care should be taken not to damage radi-

ator cooling fins during installation. Install radi-
ator into position. The lower rubber isolators must
rest in the holes in the bottom of the radiator sup-
port (Fig. 23).

(2) Install A/C condenser mounting fasteners (Fig.

24). Tighten A/C condenser mounting fasteners to 5
N·m (45 in. lbs.).

(3) Install radiator radiator mounting bolts (Fig.

23). Tighten radiator mounting bolts to 11 N·m (95
in. lbs.).

(4) Connect upper and lower radiator hoses.
(5) Install radiator fan fasteners (Fig. 23). Tighten

radiator fan mounting fasteners to 5 N·m (45 in.
lbs.).

(6) Install oil cooler mounting fasteners. Tighten

oil cooler mounting fasteners to 5 N·m (45 in. lbs.).

(7) Install air cleaner housing assembly, connect

throttle body air inlet hose (Refer to 9 - ENGINE/
AIR INTAKE SYSTEM - INSTALLATION).

(8) Fill the cooling system with coolant (Refer to 7

- COOLING/ENGINE - STANDARD PROCEDURE -
FILLING COOLING SYSTEM).

(9) Operate the engine until it reaches normal

operating temperature. Check the cooling system for
correct fluid level.

WATER PUMP

REMOVAL

(1) Drain cooling system (Refer to 7 - COOLING/

ENGINE - STANDARD PROCEDURE - DRAINING
COOLING SYSTEM).

(2) Disconnect throttle body air inlet hose, remove

air cleaner housing assembly (Refer to 9 - ENGINE/
AIR INTAKE SYSTEM - REMOVAL).

(3) Remove accessory drive belt (Refer to 7 -

COOLING/ACCESSORY

DRIVE/DRIVE

BELTS

REMOVAL).

(4) Remove water pump attaching bolts in the

reverse order of the torque sequence (Fig. 27).

(5) Remove water pump (Fig. 25).
(6) Remove and discard the water pump gasket.

INSPECTION

Replace the water pump if it has any of the follow-

ing defects.

(1) Damage or cracks on the pump body.
(2) Coolant leaks; if the seal is leaking, evident by

traces of coolant leaks from vent hole.

(3) Loose or rough turning bearing.
(4) Impeller rubs either the pump body or chain

case cover.

(5) Erosion of the plastic impeller blades.

INSTALLATION

CAUTION: Do not use a metal scraper to clean alu-
minum sealing surfaces, as damage to surfaces
may occur. Use only a plastic scraper and Mopar

Brake Parts Cleaner or the equivalent

(1) Clean both sealing surfaces using a plastic

scraper and Mopar

t Brake Parts Cleaner or the

equivalent. Take care not to scratch or gouge sealing
surfaces.

(2) Install new water pump gasket (Fig. 26).
(3) Install pump to chain case cover (Fig. 25).
(4) Tighten water pump bolts in the sequence

shown in (Fig. 27) to 11 N·m (95 in. lbs.).

(5) Rotate the water pump by hand to check for

freedom of movement.

(6) Install the accessory drive belt (Refer to 7 -

COOLING/ACCESSORY

DRIVE/DRIVE

BELTS

INSTALLATION).

(7) Install air cleaner housing assembly, connect

throttle body air inlet hose (Refer to 9 - ENGINE/
AIR INTAKE SYSTEM - INSTALLATION).

(8) Refill cooling system (Refer to 7 - COOLING/

ENGINE - STANDARD PROCEDURE - FILLING
COOLING SYSTEM).

AUDIO

DESCRIPTION

The audio system uses an ignition switched source

of battery current so that the system will only oper-
ate when the ignition switch is in the RUN or
ACCESSORY positions.

The audio system includes the following compo-

nents:

• Antenna integral to the windshield

• Power amplifier

• Radio noise suppression components

• Radio receiver

• Speakers
Certain functions and features of the audio system

rely upon resources shared with other electronic
modules in the vehicle over the Programmable Com-
munication Interface (PCI) bus network. The data
bus network allows the sharing of sensor informa-
tion. For diagnosis of these electronic modules or of
the data bus network, the use of a scan tool and the
proper Diagnostic Procedures manual is recom-
mended.

Refer to the appropriate wiring information.

OPERATION

The audio system components are designed to pro-

vide audio entertainment and information through
the reception, tuning and amplification of locally
broadcast radio signals in both the Amplitude Modu-
lating (AM) and Frequency Modulating (FM) com-
mercial frequency ranges.

The audio system components operate on battery

current received through a fuse in the Power Distri-
bution Center (PDC). It is on a fused ignition switch
output (run-acc) circuit so that the system will only
operate when the ignition switch is in the Run or
Accessory positions.

DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING - AUDIO

Any diagnosis of the Audio system should

begin with the use of scan tool and the appro-
priate Diagnostic Service Manual.
