3. REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

3.1 REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, PLASTIC RESERVOIR FILTER ELEMENT

Removing the plastic reservoir filter element
1.

Clean the reservoir cover, so that absolutely 

no dirt can get into the reservoir.

2.

Remove the cover (3).

3.

Rotate the filter holder (5) a quarter turn. 

Slowly remove the filter holder (5) together 

with the filter element (6) from the 

reservoir (1).

Note:

The filter holder and filter element must be 

removed from the reservoir (1) with care so 

that no dirt remains in the reservoir (1).

4.

Remove the filter element (6) from the filter 

holder (5).

Installation of plastic reservoir filter element
1.

Fit a new filter element (6) in the filter 

holder (5).

2.

Fit the filter holder (5) together with the filter 

element (6) in the reservoir (1) and rotate the 

filter holder (5) a quarter turn. Make sure that 

the filter holder (5) engages in its locking 

element.

3.

Check the sealing ring (4) for damage and 

replace if necessary.

4.

Fit the sealing ring (4) and cover (3).

5.

Check the fluid level using the dipstick (2).

3.2 REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, STEEL RESERVOIR FILTER ELEMENT

Removing the steel reservoir filter element
1.

Clean the reservoir (9) cover, so that 

absolutely no dirt can get into the reservoir.

2.

Remove the wing nut (1).

3.

Remove the steel ring (2) and the sealing 

ring (3).

4.

Remove the cover (5).

5.

Remove the rubber bush (6) and steel 

bush (7).

6.

Slowly remove the filter element (8) from the 

reservoir (9).

Note:

The filter element must be removed from the 

reservoir with care so that no dirt remains in 

the reservoir.

Installation of steel reservoir filter element
1.

Fit a new filter element (8) into the 

reservoir (9).

2.

Fit the steel bush (7).

3.

Check the flexibility of the rubber bush (6) 

and replace if necessary. Install the rubber 

bush (6).

4.

Check the sealing ring on the cover (5) and 

replace if necessary. Fit the cover (5).

5.

Check the rubber ring (3) and replace if 

necessary. Install the rubber ring (3) and 

steel ring (2).

6.

Fit the wing nut (1).

7.

Check the fluid level using the dipstick (4).

3.3 REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, RESERVOIR

Removing the reservoir
1.

Clean the reservoir and the surrounding 

area.

2.

Place a receptacle under the reservoir.

3.

Disconnect the hoses from the reservoir. 

Plug the hose connections.

4.

Remove the filter element from the reservoir.

5.

Loosen the clamping strips and remove the 

reservoir from the bracket.

Installation of reservoir
1.

Thoroughly clean the inside of the reservoir.

2.

Fit a new filter element into the reservoir.

3.

Place the reservoir on the bracket.

4.

Check the condition of the hoses and 

connect these to the reservoir. If necessary, 

turn the reservoir so that the hoses can be 

connected straight to the reservoir.

5.

Fix the hoses with new hose clamps. Tighten 

the hose clamp.

6.

Fill and bleed the system.

7.

Inspect the hose connections for leaks.

3.4 REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, LINES

Removing lines
1.

Clean the line connections and the 

surrounding area.

2.

Place a receptacle under the line connection.

3.

Remove the line. Plug the openings.

Installation of lines
1.

Only install original lines supplied by DAF.

2.

Items requiring special attention when 

connecting lines

-

Replace the O-ring.

-

Prevent the line twisting during 

tightening of the coupling. To facilitate 

checking this, a mark may have been 

provided on the hose (sometimes in the 

form of text).

-

The line must not touch other parts (this 

is in view of chafing).

-

The line must not bend sharply; this 

applies especially to the flexible supply 

line and return line.

-

The line is not pinched off by other 

components.

3.

If the hose is connected using a hose clamp, 

the hose clamp should be replaced. Tighten 

the hose clamp.

Check the tapered parts for damage in the 

case of a union nut connection.

4.

Fill and bleed the system.

5.

Inspect the line connections for leaks.
