ensures

level

alternator

.

After

tarting,

the

v

oltage

on

terminals

and

15

will

rise

to

about

28.5

V

.

O

nce

this

v

oltage

is

reached,

the

IC

in

the

regulator

interrupts

the

pre-exciter

c

oil

to

enable

the

voltage

to

be

regulated.

The

m

agnetic

field

w

ill

now

disappear

,

s

o

that

the

generator

will

not

be

energised

for

a

s

hort

period

o

f

time.

As

a

result,

the

v

oltage

on

outputs

B

+

and

15

will

drop.

The

regulator

reactivates

w

hen

the

v

oltage

drops

below

27.6V

.

T

his

m

eans

that

the

voltage

supplied

b

y

the

generator

remains

relatively

constant.

T

he

batteries

are

s

upplied

through

the

B

+

generator

output.

The

a

lternator

charging

current

warning

lamp

is

activated

v

ia

wire

1020,

which

is

c

onnected

to

the

V

IC

(D900).

T

he

VIC

c

ontrols

the

D

IP

via

the

CAN

network.

T

he

voltage

on

wire

1020

is

switched

by

the

c

ontrol

IC.

The

a

lternator

is

also

equipped

with

a

‘sens

’line.

This

connection

continuously

measures

the

v

oltage

on

connection

point

30

of

the

s

tarter

motor

.

If

the

v

oltage

on

connection

point

30

drops,

the

voltage

is

immediately

c

orrected

by

the

c

ontrol

IC.

The

alternator

will

increase

the

voltage

until

a

value

o

f

28.5V

is

reached

again.
