(6) After the barrels have been adjusted, cycle the

folding top to the fully stowed position and then raise
it back up and latch it at the header.

Adjustment of the C-link stop-screws (to align the
dowel pins on the folding top with the dowel pin
receptacles in the windshield frame mounted
strikers)

(1) The folding top should be in a raised position

and unlatched at the header.

(2) Visually inspect the fore/aft alignment of the

dowel pin to the dowel pin receptacles in the wind-
shield frame mounted strikers (the center line axis of
the dowel pins should be aligned with the center line
axis of the dowel pin receptacles). Measure the
amount of misalignment.

(3) Lower the folding top to the stowed position.
(4) Locate the stop-screw at the base of the C-link

to the main pivot bracket (1 per side) between the
quarter window and the interior quarter trim (they
are only visible when the folding top is in the stowed
position) (Fig. 2) and (Fig. 3).

(5) Turn the stop-screw(s) (13 mm jam nut - torx

40 the amount required. One half clockwise rotation
(turn to the right) of the screw will move the folding
top forward 2.0 mm (0.08 in), and one half counter-
clockwise rotation (turn to the left) of the screw will
move the folding top rearward 2.0 mm (0.08 in).

Raise the folding top and pull down on the

handle. The dowel pins should fall into the center of
the dowel pin receptacles. There should be no rub-
bing or noise from the dowel pins when the dowel
pins enter the dowel pin receptacles.

(7) Repeat steps 1 through 6 as required.

NOTE: The folding top dowel pins can be shifted
side to side by turning one side stop-screw out and
the opposite side stop-screw in.

BACKLITE ASSEMBLY

REMOVAL

(1) Mask the folding top canopy around the back-

lite opening (outside) to prevent canopy contamina-
tion during repair of the backlite.

(2) Unlatch the folding top but leave in the raised

position.

(3) Detach the headliner retainer by pulling the

retainer away from the backlite ring.

(4) Disconnect the two rear window defogger con-

nectors.

(5) Cut out the broken glass taking care not to

contact the canopy with the blade.

INSTALLATION

(1) Apply a new bead of urethane to the centerline

of the flange (on the steel backlite ring on the folding
top) over the original urethane bead (insure that the
rear window defogger pigtails are taped onto the
backlite surface).

(2) Install the new backlite glass, pressing it

evenly around the perimeter to achieve a consistent
flush or under flush condition to the canopy.

(3) Verify that the glass is centered in the opening,

allowing for an even gap to the canopy.

(4) Connect the two rear windows pigtails (1 per

side) to the wire harness.

(5) Press the headliner retainer onto flange on the

backlite ring ensuring each rear window defogger
pigtail is routed through the notches in the backlite
frame.

(6) Remove the protective tape from the canopy

that was install around the backlite opening (outside)
to prevent canopy contamination during repair of the
backlite.

(7) Allow the adhesive to cure for a minimum of 24

hours before raising or lowering the folding top.

NOTE: Failure to allow the urethane to cure for a
minimum of 24 hours before raising or lowering the
folding top will result in a failure of the backlite sys-
tem.

(8) After 24 hours latch the top and water test the

backlite.

FOLDING TOP ASSEMBLY

REMOVAL

NOTE: The entire folding top assembly should
never be adjusted at its mounting points. The fold-
ing top has been fixture set to correlate with the
location of the side glass. This section describes
the process to replace the folding by locating the
new folding top in the same position as the part
requiring replacement.

(1) Begin with the folding top in the raised posi-

tion.

(2) Remove the rear seat cushion. (Refer to 23 -

BODY/SEATS/SEAT CUSHION - REMOVAL).

(3) Remove the interior quarter trim panels. (Refer

to 23 - BODY/INTERIOR/QUARTER PANEL TRIM -
REMOVAL).

(4) Remove the rear seat back. (Refer to 23 -

BODY/SEATS/SEAT BACK - REMOVAL).

(5) Remove the well liner (Fig. 4) and (Fig. 5).

(6) Remove the hydraulic pump cover (Fig. 6).
(7) Remove 2 nuts at the hydraulic pump assembly

(Fig. 7).

(8) Remove 6 push-in clips (3/side) on the hydrau-

lic hoses and wire harness (Fig. 8).

(9) Detach the water trough from the folding top

floating bow (Fig. 9).

(10) Lower the folding top into the stowed position.
(11) Disconnect the wire harness from the main

body harness at the left side support bracket
(between the main pivot bracket and the rear seat
back support)

(12) Remove the support brackets (Fig. 10).
(13) Remove the exterior belt molding (Fig. 11) and

(Fig. 12).

(14) Find

bracket to the vehicle body but do not remove the
bolts at this time.

(15) Remove one bolt from the main pivot bracket

and mark the position of the main pivot bracket hole
to the body (paint, a marker or a scribe are sug-
gested) (Fig. 13).

(16) Replace the bolt and snug until later.

(17) Remove the main pivot bracket attaching

bolts (Fig. 14).

(18) Remove the folding top assembly from the

vehicle.
