Chery A15. Manual - part 244

3) Unfix the oil pressure gauge hole cap on the fuel pipe.
4) Place the open end of the special equipment of the fuel pressure relief hose or similar
equipment into the approved gas container. Connect the other end of the hose to the oil
pressure gauge hole. The pressure will be relieved through the hose and the gas container.

Three. Fixing/unfixing the fuel system
1. Fixing the fuel tank assembly
- Fix the fuel tank assembly.
- Screw on the two M6 taping screws on the fuel tank inlet.
- Fix the three fuel tank fixing belts and screw on five M8 bolts.
- Screw on five M8 bolts (the screwing torque is 30±2Nm) and two M6 taping screws
(the screwing torque is 4.5±0.5Nm)
- Fix the oil filler hole cap and steel wire check ring.
- Connect the inlet and outlet pipe of the fuel tank and clamp the oil pipe snap hoop with
a special tool.
Note: the clearance between the fuel tank assembly and the rear wheel casing’s
inner plate must be bigger than 12mm.

2. Fixing the fuel filter:
- Fix the fuel filter assembly into the fuel filter
protective casing.
- Connect the inlet and outlet pipes on both sides of
the fuel filter and clamp the oil pipe snap hoop with a
special tool.
- Screw the protective casing assembly onto the car
floor with two M8 locknuts with a torque of 12±
2Nm.
Note: the clearance between the fuel tank
assembly and the rear wheel casing’s inner plate must be bigger than 12mm.
3. Fixingthe fuel pipe:
- Fix the clamp on the corresponding screw under the car body.
- Install the protective jacket and fix the fuel pipe onto the clamp in the corresponding
place.

- Put on the hose jacket and connect the corresonding oil pipe and hose.

- Clamp the oil pipe snap hoop with a special tool.
Note:
1) The clearance between the fuel pipe (bent) and the rear flange of the front bottom plate
must be bigger than 30mm.
2) Be sure to properly fix the hose jacket of the front bottom plate and the single-tube
clamp; then connect the corresponding oil pipe and hose.
3) Connect the quick tie-in and the corresponding oil pipe with a snap hoop. The bigger
quick tie-in (9.49) is connected to the outlet pipe of the oil pump and the smaller one
(7.89) is connectd to the return pipe of the oil pump.
4. Fixing the activated carbon canister assembly
- Fix the activated carbon canister assembly.
- Screw tight two M6 taping screws with a torque of 10±1Nm.
- Fix the carbon canister outlet pipe between the throttle and the carbon canister. Tightly
clamp the snap hoop on the exhaust pipe.
5. Fixing the fuel tank cover assembly.
- Fix the fuel tank cover onto the fuel tank assembly.

Chapter Thirteen Troubleshooting on Engine Mechanical Parts

One. General description
Engine troubleshooting can help to target and repair existing troubles, e.g. abnormal
noises or other operational troubles (unstable engine idle speed or flameout).
In the case of some special engine troubles, some additional troubleshooting procedures
have to be carried out other than relying on the troubleshooting flowchart.
The additional troubleshooting procedures include:
1. Testing the cylinder’s compression pressure
2. Checking for the cylinder’s combustion pressure leakage
3. Diagnosing the cylinder cover’s gasket
4. Diagnosing the noise at gear clearance
5. Checking for engine oil leakage

Two. Troubleshooting on the engine mechanical parts
1. Trouble: startup difficulty

Cause Troubleshooting

method

1. Insufficient battery voltage

1. Test the battery: charge or replace if necessary.
(See Circuit/Storage Battery System –
Troubleshooting)

2. Loosened or eroded storage
battery wires

2. Clean and screw tight the battery wires and
apply one film of light mineral grease onto the
fittings.

3. Starter faults

3. Test the startup system (see Circuit/Starup
System – Troubleshooting)

4. Ignition coil or controller
module faults

4. Test and replace if necessary (see relevant
information on troubleshooting)

5. Incorrect spark plug clearance

5. Adjust clearance (see Circuit/Ignition Control
– Specifications)

Continued

6. Fuel system pollution

6. Clean the system and replace fuel
filter. The engine is not started.

7. Defected fuel pump

7. Test the fuel pump and replace if
necessary (see relevant information on
troubloshooting)

8. Engine timing errors

8. Check if the timing chain suffers any
improper tooth engagement.

2. Trouble: engine flameout or unstable idle speed

Cause Troubleshooting

method

1. Incorrect mixing ratio of fuel

1. (See relevant information on
troubleshooting)

2. Air intake manifold leakage

2. Check the air intake manifold, air
intake manifold gasket and vacuum hose

3. Ignition coil trouble

3. Test and replace if neccesary (See
relevant information on troubleshooting)

3. Trouble: insufficient engine power

Cause Troubleshooting

method

1. Dirty spark plug or incorrect clearance

1. Clean the spark plug and reset the
clearance

2. Clean the system and replace fuel filter

2. Dirty fuel system

3. Fuel pump trouble

3. Test and replace if necessary (see
relevant information on troubleshooting)

4. Valve timing errors

4. Check the valve timing

5. Cylinder gasket leakage

5. Replace the cylinder gakset

6. Under compression ratio

6. Test the pressure of each cylinder

7. Burned, bent or dented valve

7. Replace the valve

8. Clogged exhaust pipe

8. Test the exhaust capability (see
Exhaust System – Troubleshooting and
Testing), replace a new one if necessary

9. Ignition coil troble

9. Test and replace if necessary (see
relevant information on troubleshooting)

4. Trouble: engine flameout during acceleration
