VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR 

Refer to DTC B1102

DTC B1613 LOST COMMUNICATION WITH CLU, BUS FAILURE

GENERAL DESCRIPTION 

Refer to DTC B1602

DTC DESCRIPTION 

The ECM sets DTC B1613 if Cluster module haven't transmitted DATA for 10sec in normal CAN 
communicating.

1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC).  

2. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF".

3. Select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC s)" mode and monitor "DTC Status" parameter.  

4. Is the DTC B1613 present? 

YES  

Go to TERMINAL AND CONNECTOR INSPECTION procedure. 

NO  

Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or ECM's connector or was repaired and 
ECM memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, 
corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to 
"VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR" procedure. 

TERMINAL AND CONNECTOR INSPECTION 

Refer to DTC B1102

SIGNAL CIRCUIT INSPECTION 

Refer to DTC B1605

POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT INSPECTION 

1. Check for open or short in power harness 

1. Ignition "OFF".  

2. Connect Cluster module  

3. Measure voltage value between terminal "M04-2-7" of FAM and chassis ground. 

Specification: 9-16V

4. Is the measured voltage within specifications?

YES  

Go to "COMPONENT INSPECTION" procedure. 

NO  

Check for open or short in power harness. Repair as necessary and go to "VERIFICATION OF 
VEHICLE REPAIR
" procedure. 

COMPONENT INSPECTION 

1. Check Cluster module 

1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC).  

2. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF".  

3. Substitute with a known-good Cluster module and Check if the DTC is erased.  

4. Is the DTC erased? 

YES  

Substitute with a known-good Cluster module and check for proper operation. 

If the problem is corrected, replace Cluster module and then go to "VERIFICATION OF 
VEHICLE REPAIR
" procedure. 

NO  

Go to step 2. 

2. Check IPM 

1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC).  

2. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF".  

3. Substitute with a known-good IPM and Check if the DTC is erased.  

4. Is the DTC erased? 

YES  

Substitute with a known-good IPM and check for proper operation. 

If the problem is corrected, replace IPM and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE 
REPAIR
" procedure. 

NO  

Check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, 
or damage.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION 

IPM is a component of BCM that consists of DDM, ADM, FAM, RAM, IMS and cluster module. Each 
component of BCM controls relative unit and share information by CAN communication line. IPM is 
abbreviation of Instrument Panel Module. it is located at the lower part of steering column and controls front 
area electronic unit. 

DTC DESCRIPTION 

The ECM sets DTC B1624 if there's any fault in writing/reading IPM EEPROM data procedure.
