Removal Hydraulic control unit (HCU) assembly 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery 2. Pill up the locker to remove the unit connector. 3. Disconnect the six brake lines (2 inlet and 4 outlet) using a flare nut wrench. Be prepared to catch escaping brake fluid. Temporarily seal open brake lines with plastic caps or equivalent. 4. Remove hydraulic control unit bracket bolts and nut on the vehicle remove unit bracket. 5. Temporarily seal open brake line ports with plastic plugs or equivalent. 6. Store the hydraulic control unit in a protective container while it is being serviced. Installation Hydraulic control unit (HCU) assembly 1. Install Hydraulic Control Unit into position and tighten the bolts and nut. Tightening torque: 6~9 lb-ft (8~12 N-m, 80~120 kg-cm) 2. Reconnect six brake lines. Be certain that the four lower outlet lines have been connected to the correct ports. Tighten the nuts to specification. Tightening torque: 9~16 lb-ft (12~22 N-m, 1.3~2.2 kg-m) 3. To hydraulic control unit and connect Hydraulic Control Unit connector. Be certain connectors are fully mated. 4. Bleed the brake system using ABS procedure described in Brake System Bleeding. |
