102 MAINTENANCE General Maintenance Hydraulic Brake Inspection Frequently inspect the brake lever reserve. Firmly depress the brake lever and measure the clearance between the lever and handlebar grip. This distance, called brake lever reserve (A), should be no less than 1/2″ (1.3 cm). thinner than the backing plate (approximately 1/16″). A kit is available for replacing brake pads.
