When switching to VSC OFF mode, the VSC OFF switch must be held for 3 seconds or more with the vehicle
stopped. TRAC and VSC operation must both be turned off before beginning testing.
w/o Multi-information Display:

During VSC OFF mode, the TRAC OFF and VSC OFF indicator lights in the combination meter

illuminate.

w/ Multi-information Display:

During VSC OFF mode, the TRAC OFF indicator in the multi-information display is displayed and the

VSC OFF indicator light in the combination meter illuminates.

Fix the vehicle in place with chains for safety.

(b) NOTICES FOR VSC RELATED PROCEDURES

(1) For VSC related parts, adjustments are required after removal and installation. Therefore, perform

removal and installation only when necessary.

(2) When performing VSC related procedures, be sure to strictly follow the preparation and completion

procedures.

10. PRECAUTIONS FOR TOWING REAR WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES

NOTICE:

Do not use any towing method other than those shown above.

(c) If a tow truck is not available, in an emergency the vehicle may be temporarily towed using a cable or

chain secured to the emergency towing eyelet(s).

A driver must be in the vehicle to steer and operate the brakes. The vehicle's wheels, drivetrain, axles,

steering and brakes must be in good condition.

NOTICE:

If the towing speed or distance exceeds the above limits, or the vehicle is towed in a backward direction

with the wheels on the ground, the drivetrain or vehicle may be damaged.

(1) Emergency towing procedure

Turn the ignition switch to ON.

1. 

Depress the brake pedal and move the transmission shift lever to N.

2. 

Release the parking brake.

3. 

Release the brake pedal slowly.

4. 

NOTICE:

(1) Do not tow the vehicle with only 2 wheels on the ground.

CAUTION:

If the vehicle is towed with only the front wheels on the ground, the steering may move, causing the

vehicle to become unstable.

NOTICE:

If the vehicle is towed with only the rear wheels on the ground, the drivetrain may overheat and be

damaged.

(2) Do not use a sling-type towing method either from the front or rear.

NOTICE:

If a sling-type tow truck is used, damage may occur to the vehicle body.

11. FOR VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH CATALYTIC CONVERTER

CAUTION:

(a) Use only unleaded gasoline.

(b) Avoid idling the engine for more than 20 minutes.

(c) When performing spark jump tests:

(1) Perform a spark jump test only when absolutely necessary. Perform this test as rapidly as possible.

(2) While testing, never race the engine.

(d) Avoid a prolonged engine compression measurement. Engine compression measurements must be

performed as rapidly as possible.

(e) Do not run the engine when the fuel tank is nearly empty. This may cause the engine to misfire and create

an extra load on the converter.

VEHICLE LIFT AND SUPPORT LOCATIONS

1. NOTICE ABOUT VEHICLE CONDITION WHEN RAISING VEHICLE

(a) The vehicle must be unloaded before jacking up or raising the vehicle. Never jack up or raise a heavily

loaded vehicle.

(b) Set the jack and safety stands exactly under the specified locations on the vehicle.

(e) Before removing the jack, tap the safety stands with a hammer or equivalent to make sure that the

vehicle is properly supported.

(f) When using a lift, always lower the vehicle when work is not being performed.

2. NOTICE FOR USING 4 POST LIFT

(a) Follow the safety procedures outlined in the lift's instruction manual.

(b) Use precautionary measures to prevent the free wheel beam from damaging tires or wheels.

(c) Use wheel chocks to secure the vehicle.

3. NOTICE FOR USING JACK AND SAFETY STAND

(a) Work on a level surface. Use wheel chocks at all times.

(b) Use safety stands with rubber attachments as shown in the illustration.

(e) When jacking up the entire vehicle:

(1) When jacking up the front wheels first, make sure wheel chocks are behind the rear wheels.
