DESCRIPTION 

The engine hood courtesy switch is built into the hood lock. This switch turns on when the engine hood is 
opened and turns off when the engine hood is closed.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE 

1. READ VALUE OF TECHSTREAM (ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH) 

a. Using Techstream, read the Data List.

2. INSPECT HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY (ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH)

a. Remove the hood lock (see REMOVAL ).  

b. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

OK: Go to Next Step  

3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAIN BODY ECU - ENGINE HOOD COURTESY 

SWITCH AND BODY GROUND) 

a. Disconnect the J4 main body ECU connector.  

b. Disconnect the A29 engine hood courtesy switch connector.  

c. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR  

OK: REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU  

HORN CIRCUIT 

DESCRIPTION 

When the theft deterrent system changes from the armed state to the alarm sounding state, the main body ECU 
transmits a signal to cause the horns to sound at 0.4 second intervals.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE 

1. CHECK HORN ASSEMBLY 

a. Press the horn switch and check if the vehicle horns sound normally. 

OK: Vehicle horns sound normally.
