2. INSPECT LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT

a. Remove the light control rheostat (see REMOVAL ).  

b. Measure the resistance according to the table below. 

Standard resistance:  

w/o TAIL Cancel Switch  

STANDARD RESISTANCE W/O TAIL CANCEL SWITCH REFERENCE

3 (RV) -1 (E)

Downward --> Upward

STANDARD RESISTANCE W/ TAIL CANCEL SWITCH REFERENCE 

NG: REPLACE LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT (see REMOVAL ) 

OK: Go to next step  

3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER - LIGHT CONTROL 

RHEOSTAT) 

a. Disconnect the J28 meter connector.  

b. Disconnect the L4 rheostat connector.  

c. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. 

Standard resistance:  

w/o TAIL Cancel Switch

METER ILLUMINATION IS ALWAYS DARK 

DESCRIPTION 

When the ignition switch is turned to ACC or ON, the accessory meter operates as follows. 

w/ Cruise information: 

The accessory meter receives light control switch signals and combination meter signals, and performs 
illumination dim operations. 

w/o Cruise information: 

The accessory meter receives light control switch signals and performs illumination dim operations.
