If the result is not as specified, replace the magnet starter switch assembly

REASSEMBLY 

1

INSTALL STARTER ARMATURE ASSEMBLY 

a

Install the starter armature to the starter yoke

INSTALL STARTER BRUSH HOLDER ASSEMBLY 

a

Install a new O-ring to the groove of the starter yoke   

b

Place the brush holder on the starter yoke   

c

Using a screwdriver, hold the brush spring back

Connect the brush to the brush holder   

e

Connect the 4 brushes  

f

Install 2 new O-rings and the end cover with the 2 screws  

Torque: 1.5 N*m (15 kgf*cm, 13 in.*lbf)

Install the dust protector as shown in the illustration

INSTALL STARTER CLUTCH SUB-ASSEMBLY 

a

Apply grease to the steel ball, return spring, clutch roller, retainer and idler gear   

b

Install the steel ball   

c

Install a new O-ring to the starter housing   

d

Insert the return spring into the magnet starter switch hole   

e

Install the starter clutch, idler gear, retainer and clutch roller

Install the starter housing to the magnetic switch with the 2 bolts  

NOTE:

Check that the positive (+) lead wires are not grounded.

Torque: 5.9 N*m (60 kgf*cm, 52 in.*lbf)

Install the dust protector as shown in the illustration

INSTALL STARTER YOKE ASSEMBLY 

a

Install a new O-ring to the groove of the starter yoke   

b

Align the protrusion of the starter yoke with the groove of the magnetic switch

Install the starter yoke with the 2 through bolts  

Torque: 5.9 N*m (60 kgf*cm, 52 in.*lbf)

Connect the lead wire to the magnetic switch terminal with the nut  

Torque: 5.9 N*m (60 kgf*cm, 52 in.*lbf)  

INSTALLATION

INSTALL STARTER ASSEMBLY 

a

Connect the starter wire with the nut  

Torque: 9.8 N*m (100 kgf*cm, 87 in.*lbf)  

b

Connect the starter connector   

c

Connect the starter to the cylinder block   

d

Connect the ground wire with the bolt  

Torque: 17 N*m (173 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf)  

e

Install the engine wire protector to the starter with the bolt  

Torque: 9.8 N*m (100 kgf*cm, 87 in.*lbf)
