b. Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal 1 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2, and 

check the movement of the valve. 

OK  

VOLTAGE REFERENCE 

If the result is not as specified, replace the oil control valve assembly. 

If the valve cannot return properly because of foreign matter, a small pressure leak in the advanced 
direction may occur and a DTC may be output. 

Condition

Battery positive (+) voltage is 

applied

Valve moves in left arrow direction shown in the illustration

Battery positive (+) voltage is cut off

Valve moves in right arrow direction shown in the 
illustration

INSTALLATION 

1. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Bank 1) 

a. Apply a light coat of engine oil to a new O-ring of the oil control valve.

b. Install the oil control valve with the bolt. 

Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf)  

c. Connect the camshaft tinning oil control valve connector. 

NOTE:

Be careful that the O-ring is not cracked when installing the oil 
control valve.

2. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Bank 2)

b. Install the oil control valve with the bolt. 

Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf)  

c. Connect the oil control valve connector.  

3. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY (See INSTALLATION )  

4. INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY WITH ELEMENT . (See INSTALLATION ). 

NOTE:

Be careful that the O-ring is not cracked when installing the oil 
control valve.

5. INSTALL NO. 2 AIR CLEANER HOSE . (See INSTALLATION ).  

6. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 

7. ADD ENGINE COOLANT . (See REPLACEMENT ).  

8. INSPECT FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAK . (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION ).  

9. INSTALL V-BANK COVER . (See INSTALLATION ).  

10. INSTALL FRONT COWL TOP OUTER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY . (See INTAKE SYSTEM ).  

11. INSTALL FRONT WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY 

a. Install the front wiper motor and link assembly. (See INSTALLATION ).  

12. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER (See INSTALLATION )

Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (see 
INITIALIZATION ).
