Inspection

COMPONENT PART

Check the mounting conditions (looseness, back lash) of each component and component conditions (wear,
damage) are normal.

WHEEL HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY

Check the following items, and replace the part it necessary.
• Move wheel hub and bearing assembly in the axial direction by hand. Check there is no looseness of wheel

bearing. 

• Rotate wheel hub and bearing assembly and check there is no unusual noise or other irregular conditions. If

there is any of irregular conditions, replace wheel hub and bearing assembly.

Axial end play

: Refer to 

RAX-8, "Wheel Bearing"

.

Removal and Installation

REMOVAL

1.

Remove tires. Refer to 

XX-XX, "*****"

.

2.

Remove hub cap from brake drum, using a hub cap pliers.

3.

Remove wheel hub lock nut and brake drum.

4.

Remove brake shoe assembly. Refer to 

Dummy cross-reference("XX-XX")

.

5.

Remove spindle mounting bolt. Separate back plate and spindle from rear suspension beam.

INSTALLATION

Note the following, and install in the reverse order of removal.

1.

Rear suspension beam

2.

Back plate

3.

Spindle

4.

Snap ring

5.

Wheel bearing

6.

Brake drum

7.

Wheel hub lock nut

8.

Hub cap

Refer to 

XX-XX, "*****"

 for symbols in the figure.

REAR WHEEL HUB

• Using a drift (SST), mount hub cap on brake drum.

CAUTION:

Never reuse hub cap.

• Never reuse wheel lock nut. 

Disassembly and Assembly

DISASSEMBLY

1.

Remove snap ring.

2.

Remove wheel bearing, using the drift (SST).

ASSEMBLY

1.

Install wheel bearing, using the drift (A) (SST: KV40104730).

CAUTION:

Never reuse wheel bearing.

2.

Install snap ring.

Inspection

INSPECTION AFTER REMOVAL

Check the brake drum assembly and spindle for wear, cracks, and damage. Replace if necessary.

INSPECTION AFTER DISASSEMBLY

• Check brake drum for wear, cracks, or any other damage. Replace if necessary.
