TROUBLESHOOTING MULTIPOINT FUEL INJECTION (MPI) 13A-101 FUNCTION • Engine-ECU varies the direction and the amper- age of the current that is applied to the throttle TROUBLE JUDGMENT Check Conditions • Battery positive voltage is more than 8.3 V. • Difference between the throttle position sensor (main) output voltage and the target throttle posi- • Difference between the throttle position sensor (sub) output voltage and the target throttle posi- • The drive duty of the throttle valve control servo is more than 100 %. • Except while engine is being cranked. or • Battery positive voltage is more than 8.3 V. • Difference between the target throttle position sensor (main) voltage and the throttle position • Difference between the target throttle position sensor (sub) voltage and the throttle position sen- • The drive duty of the throttle valve control servo is more than 100 %. • Except while engine is being cranked. Judgement Criterion • Difference between the throttle position sensor (main) output voltage and the learning value of or • Difference between the throttle position sensor (sub) output voltage and the learning value of the FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION • Throttle opening degree position is in default position. PROBABLE CAUSES • Failed throttle valve control servo. • Open circuit or harness damage in throttle valve control servo circuit or lose connector contact. • Failed engine-ECU DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE STEP 1. Check throttle valve control servo itself. • Electronic-controlled throttle valve control check. • Throttle valve control servo check (Refer to ). Q: Is the check result normal? YES : Go to Step 2. NO : Repair or replace the connector, or replace STEP 2. Perform resistance measurement at • Disconnect connector, and measure at harness side. • Resistance between terminal RSG, RSH and body earth. OK: Continuity (2 Ω or less) Q: Is the check result normal? YES : Go to Step 3. NO : Repair or replace the connector, or check and repair harness between engine-ECU • Check earthing line for open circuit and damage. STEP 3. Check harness between • Check output line for open circuit and damage. Q: Is the check result normal? YES : Go to Step 4. NO : Repair or replace the connector, or repair STEP 4. Check harness between • Check signal line for open circuit and damage. Q: Is the check result normal? YES : Go to Step 5. NO : Repair or replace the connector, or repair STEP 5. M.U.T-III diagnosis code • Reconfirmation of diagnosis code. Q: Is diagnosis code set? |
