SYMPTOM PROCEDURES

The USB memory device data cannot be replayed. <Vehicles with radio and CD player>

CAUTION

Before replacing the USB box, ensure that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit and the commu-
nication circuit are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
If the sound replay is impossible with the USB mode, 
USB cable, USB box, or radio and CD player may be 
defective, or a communication error between the 
radio and CD player and USB box may have 
occurred.
NOTE: “"USB LSI ERROR" is displayed on the RV 
meter when the USB box has an internal error. In this 
case, the USB box has an internal error.

PROBABLE CAUSES

• The radio and CD player may be defective.

• The USB box may be defective.

• The USB cable may be defective.

• Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS

STEP 1. Check the radio and CD player 
operation.
Check if the radio and CD player work normally and 
the sound is output.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 2.

NO : 

Troubleshoot the radio and CD player 

P.54A-232

.

STEP 2. Check the external sounds input mode.
Check if the audio unit is switched to the "USB 
mode".

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 3.

NO : 

Switch to the external sounds input mode.

STEP 3. Check the RV meter
Check if the RV meter is displayed the "LSI ERROR".

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 12.

NO : 

Go to Step 4.

STEP 4. Check the USB cable.
Check that the USB cable is connected to the USB 
box normally. Or check the USB cable for damage 
such as bend.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 5.

NO : 

Replace or repair the USB cable.

STEP 5. Connector check: C-174 USB box 
connector

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 6.

NO : 

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 6. Voltage measurement at C-174 USB box 
connector.
(1) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the 

wiring harness-side connector.

(2) Voltage between connector terminal No.1 and the 

body earth

OK: System voltage

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 8.

NO : 

Go to Step 7.

STEP 7. Check the wiring harness between C-174 
USB box connector terminal No.1 and fusible link 
20.

• Check the power supply lines (battery power sup-

ply) for open circuit and short circuit.

NOTE: Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check 
junction block connectors C-209, C-213 and joint 
connector C-132, and repair if necessary.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

The trouble can be an intermittent 

malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 

− How to 

use Troubleshooting/inspection Service 
Points 

− How to Cope with Intermittent 

Malfunction ).

NO : 

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 8. Resistance measurement at C-174 USB 
box connector.
(1) Disconnect C-60 USB box connector, and 

measure the resistance available at the wiring 
harness side of the connector.

(2) Check the continuity between terminal No.17 and 

body earth.

OK: Continuity exists (2 

 or less)

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 10.

NO : 

Go to Step 9.

STEP 9. Check the wiring harness between C-174 
USB box connector terminal No.17 and body 
earth.

• Check the earth wires for open circuit.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

The trouble can be an intermittent 

malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 

− How to 

use Troubleshooting/inspection Service 
Points 

− How to Cope with Intermittent 

Malfunction ).

NO : 

Repair the wiring harness. 

STEP 10. Connector check: C-126 radio and CD 
player connector

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 11.

NO : 

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 11. Check the wiring harness between C-
126 radio and CD player connector terminal No. 
23, 24, 28, 29, 34, 40 and C-174 USB box 
connector terminal No. 22, 8, 15, 2, 23, 16.

• Check the communication line for open circuit 

and short circuit.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Go to Step 12.

NO : 

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 12. Replace the USB box temporarily, and 
check the trouble symptom.
Replace the USB box temporarily, and check that the 
sound is output from the speaker.

Q: Is the check result normal?

YES : 

Replace the USB box.

NO : 

Replace the radio and CD player.
