30. Install transmission fill tube and bolt. Tighten bolts to 10 N.m (88 in.lbs.)  

31. Install transmission fill tube heat (1) shield and bolts (2). Tighten bolts to 10 N.m (88 in.lbs.)  

32. Align and connect rear propeller shaft. Refer to INSTALLATION .  

33. Align and install front propeller shaft (if equipped). Refer to INSTALLATION .  

34. Lower vehicle.  

35. Install transmission filler tube bolt at valve cover.  

36. Install catalytic converter onto turbocharger. Refer to INSTALLATION .  

37. Raise vehicle.  

38. Install catalytic converter to engine block bolts. Refer to INSTALLATION .  

39. Install particulate filter pipe. Refer to INSTALLATION .

NOTE:

Inspect the fill tube grommet to determine if the grommet is new or used. If 
a new fill tube grommet is in the transmission case, pierce the center of 
the grommet with a ballpoint pen, or similar instrument, to prepare the 
grommet for the fill tube installation.

40. Install any skid plates removed previously (1). Refer to INSTALLATION .  

41. Lower vehicle.  

42. Connect the negative battery cable.  

43. Fill transmission with Mopar® ATF +4, Automatic Transmission Fluid. 

44. Verify proper operation.

NOTE:

If the transmission is being reconditioned (clutch/seal replacement) or 
replaced, it is necessary to perform the TCM Adaptation Procedure using 
the scan tool.

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.  

2. Remove transmission fill tube bolt from the valve cover.  

3. Remove catalytic converter nuts at the turbocharger. Refer to REMOVAL .  

4. Raise and support the vehicle  

5. Remove any necessary skid plates (1). See Fig. 29. Refer to REMOVAL .  

6. Remove the particulate filter pipe. Refer to REMOVAL .  

7. Remove catalytic converter to block mounting bolts and position aside. Refer to REMOVAL .  

8. Mark propeller shaft and axle companion flanges for assembly alignment.  

9. Remove the rear propeller shaft. Refer to REMOVAL .  

10. Remove the front propeller shaft, if necessary. Refer to REMOVAL .  

11. Support the transmission.

12. Disconnect the gearshift cable (1) from the transmission manual valve lever (3).  

13. Loosen the bolts holding the shift cable retaining strap (2) to the transmission.  

14. Remove the shift cable (1) from the transmission.

15. Remove the heat shield from the 13-pin connector.
