ROCKER ARMS AND PUSH REMOVAL (1) Remove cylinder head cover and gasket (Refer to 9 - ENGINE/CYLINDER HEAD/CYLINDER HEAD COVER(S) - REMOVAL). (2) Remove the rocker arm bolts and pivots (Fig. 12). Place them on a bench in the same order as (3) Remove the push rods and place them on a bench in the same order as removed. INSTALLATION (1) Rotate the crankshaft until the “V8” mark lines up with the TDC mark on the timing chain case (2) Install the push rods in the same order as removed. (3) Install rocker arm and pivot assemblies in the same order as removed. Tighten the rocker arm bolts CAUTION: DO NOT rotate or crank the engine dur- (4) Install cylinder head cover (Refer to 9 - ENGINE/CYLINDER HEAD/CYLINDER HEAD COVER(S) - INSTALLATION). ENGINE BLOCK STANDARD PROCEDURE - CYLINDER BORE - Before honing, stuff plenty of clean shop towels under the bores and over the crankshaft to keep abrasive materials from entering the crankshaft (1) Used carefully, the Cylinder Bore Sizing Hone C-823, equipped with 220 grit stones, is the best tool CAUTION: DO NOT use rigid type hones to remove (2) Deglazing of the cylinder walls may be done if the cylinder bore is straight and round. Use a cylin- CAUTION: DO NOT use engine or transmission oil, (3) Honing should be done by moving the hone up and down fast enough to get a crosshatch pattern.
