2. ENGINE, COOLING SYSTEM AND FUEL SYSTEM

2.1 ENGINE

The engine oil specification overview is related to 

the maintenance schedules as stated in the 

maintenance manuals.

DAF specification lists refer to international 

standards such as ACEA and API. In addition, 

requirements are made as to viscosity.

If necessary, the engine oil can be subjected to 

additional requirements. These are listed in the 

DAF HP (High Performance) specification.

If the engine oil must meet the DAF HP 

specification, it is listed as such in the overview.

On the oil specification sheet pertaining to the 

specific oil company and on the packaging, there 

is an indication as to whether the DAF HP 

specifications are met. This means that the oil 

may be used for the relevant application.

DAF HP (High Performance) specification for 
diesel engines

HP 1: low-viscosity oil ..W30 E4/E5

HP 2: low-viscosity oil ..W40 E4/E5

-

HP 3: low-viscosity oil ..W40 E5

-

HP gas: oil to be used in DAF LPG engines

Additional information:
ACEA E3: mineral oil
ACEA E5: further developed ACEA E3 oil, 

geared to possible higher 

requirements on Euro 3 engines.

ACEA E4: partially or completely synthetic oil, 

specially developed for extended oil 

change interval and/or highly loaded 

engines.

Explanation of supplementary conditions for 
extended changing interval

An oil filter with a greater filtering capacity 

must be fitted.

A fuel filter with a greater filtering capacity 

must be fitted.

A centrifugal oil filter must be fitted.

The vehicle must drive at least 100,000 km 

per year.
