Turn the ignition on.
While observing the ATC temperature display, press and hold the Temp Up button for
several seconds.
While observing the ATC temperature display, press and hold the Temp Down button
for several seconds.
Does the temperature display change accordingly?

All

Yes

→ Go To 5

No

→ Replace the Automatic Temperature Control in accordance with

the Service Information.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII

t, record and erase Body Computer DTC’s.

Cycle the ignition switch.
With the DRBIII

t, read the Body Computer DTCs.

Did the DTC reset?

All

Yes

→ Replace the Automatic Temperature Control in accordance with

the Service Information.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

No

→ Symptom not present at this time.

BLEND DOOR FEEDBACK FAILURE - ATC & MTC
BLEND DOOR STALL TEST FAILURE - ATC & MTC

Test Note:

All symptoms listed above are diagnosed using the same tests.

The title for the tests will be BLEND DOOR FEEDBACK
FAILURE - ATC & MTC.

When Monitored and Set Condition:

BLEND DOOR FEEDBACK FAILURE - ATC & MTC

When Monitored:

With the ignition on.

Set Condition:

This DTC will set if the BCM detects voltage below 0.06 volts or above 4.8

volts on the Blend Door Feedback Signal input/Mode Door Feedback Signal input.

BLEND DOOR STALL TEST FAILURE - ATC & MTC

When Monitored:

During HVAC motor calibration.

Set Condition:

This DTC will set if the BCM is unable to detect the end of travel for the

blend door.

SUN SENSOR SHORTED

NOTE: If the vehicle is equipped with Manual Temperature Control (MTC),
proceed directly to the conclusion question for this test and answer No to the
question.
Park the vehicle either indoors or in a shaded area.
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII

t, read Body Computer DTCs.

Does the DRBIII

t display Sun Load Sensor Failure or In Car Temperature Sensor Failure?

All

Yes

→ Return to the Symptom List and choose the symptom(s).

Calibration must be performed after repair/replacement is completed.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition on.
NOTE: Voltages specified are from shining a 25 watt incandescent bulb on the
sensor through the windshield of a vehicle parked indoors. Performing this test
with a higher watt bulb / with a vehicle parked in the sun will result in lower
voltage readings.
With the DRBIII

t in Sensor Display, monitor Sun Sensor voltage while shining an

incandescent lamp (min 25 watt) directly on the Sun Sensor. The voltage reading should
change from approx 5.0 volts (without the light) to 4.3 volts (with the light).
Does the voltage reading change accordingly?

All

Yes

→ Go To 5

No

→ Go To 3

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Sun Sensor.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the Sun Sensor Signal circuit.
Is the voltage above 5.2 volts?

All

Yes

→ Go To 4

No

→ Replace the Sun Sensor in accordance with the Service Information.

Calibration must be performed after repair/replacement is completed.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Body Control Module (BCM) C1 connector.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the Sun Sensor Signal circuit.
Is the voltage above 0.2 volts?

All

Yes

→ Verify if voltage on Sun Sensor Signal ckt is due to either a short to

Fused B+ ckt powering VTSS Indicator, or to a short to other ckts in
same BCM connector, or to a short to another power source. Repair
Sun Sensor Signal ckt for a short to voltage.
Calibration must be performed after repair/replacement is completed.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

No

→ Verify that the Sun Sensor Signal ckt is not shorted to either the

Fused B+ ckt powering the VTSS Indicator or to other ckts in same
BCM connector. If so, repair the shorted ckts. If not, replace and
program BCM in accordance with the Service Information.
Calibration must be performed after repair/replacement is completed.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII

t, record and erase Body Computer DTC’s.

Start the engine.
With the DRBIII

t in Miscellaneous, actuate Calibrate HVAC Door Motors.

With the DRBIII

t, read the Body Computer DTCs.

What code(s) does the DRBIII

t display?

All

Other than Feedback or Stall Test Fail

Refer to the appropriate category for the related symptom(s). Diag-
nose all other DTCs before diagnosing Stall Test or Feedback Failures.
Calibration must be performed after repair/replacement is completed.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

Mode Door Feedback/Stall Test only

Return to the Symptom List and choose the symptom(s).
Calibration must be performed after repair/replacement is completed.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

More than one Feedback/Stall Test Fail

Go To Test #6 and follow the directions. However, before making any
repairs, perform the diagnostic procedures for each door that set a
Feedback/Stall Test Failure DTC. Doing so will identify all possible
conditions causing the individual DTCs to set.
Calibration must be performed after repair/replacement is completed.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
